  1. Final Fantasy went to shit after IX.

You weak mofos keep comparing TMNT in the arcade vs. NES, bitches I own both. The NES port is perfectly competent, though brutal and I much prefer the arcade version based on that alone.

RE4 was a fantastic and revolutionary game for its time and I think it still holds up today, though it's been surpassed by newer and better games.

I can't imagine how anyone could find The Witcher 3 bloated. It was some of the best side content I've ever seen in a game. Nothing really felt wasted.

Just a few thoughts after reading the last couple pages.

  2. Finished It Can't Happen Here. Yeah, it was a good read, all  the way. It's satire, but it's very relatable to the current political climate.

Now reading Trumpocracy: The Corruption of the American Republic, by David Frum. I enjoy reading his articles in the Atlantic.  Also reading Anatomy of a Genocide: The Life and Death of a Town Called Buczacz, by Omer Bartov. It's a look at how the Holocaust affected this border town(at the time)between Poland And Ukraine.

  3. You basically agreed with what I just said. :P

Yeah, JRPGs got their start on NES, with Dragon Quest, then Final Fantasy. But the golden age is generally attributed to the SNES. Those series hit their peak in the 16-bit era, not to mention the genre really expanded then.

It took off and became pretty mainstream with the PS1 and the release of FF7.

  4. SNES. I never had one as a kid, but that thing is just golden. I love the 16-bit graphics and it has some of the best games of all time. So much quality with that system.

Runner up would be the PS1. It was the system where I really started getting into games and it's got a ton of stellar titles. SNES began the greatness of JRPGs and the PS1 took it to the next level.

I am actually leaning towards the Vita on this one... the available PSP library is fantastic on top of a lot of solid high budget titles and some amazing indie ports. I find the 3DS to be very weak and extremely reliant on ports of OLD games. For most people I feel the 3DS is a better choice because of DS BC (which had a much stronger library) but the Vita just has a strong amount of games I go back to not just one and done experiences.

See, I feel the Vita relies too heavily on ports and BC, probably more so than the 3DS. Don't get me wrong, it's a great system to hold in your hands and look at and I love having my PSP library all in one place. But the thing has hardly any true exclusives. I hardly have any Vita games these days, as I've sold most of them because they're on other systems or I just didn't care enough to keep them. Meanwhile, I've still got 59 DS games on my shelf(not counting digital stuff), most of which are original titles for the system.

Sony just dropped the ball with the Vita and it's a damn shame.

Edit: I actually only have 7 physical Vita games, none of which are exclusive. They were either console ports or were ported to other platforms later on.
