Another one for the dating apps:

All of their pictures are them trying to look like a hot/sexy model rather than just being a normal smiling human. :daydream:

Dont: get me started in dating apps... I could make a list a mile long. Some of the big ones though:

Every photo taken from an angle that only seems possible via drone.

Every photo is a selfie and/or has a snapchat filter.

Gives one word replies, here is one of my all time favorites:

I can absolutely acknowledge what a Michael Bay film does well and still evaluate it as really well-done dreck worthy of a one-star rating because that one thing it does well doesn't negate the 5,000 other things it does badly.

Do you like Marvel movies? Because to me those are essentially Michael Bay movies with hotter actors and slightly less braindead writers.

I haven't even played the demo, but from what I've read there is a lot of story. Hours and hours of cutscenes. If you really think the story is unbearable, even if the gameplay is pretty good, you should have a hard time scoring this game well. That's basically how I felt about MGS2.

I've long thought that gamers thinking that reviews (which are opinion pieces!) should be objective is the seed that metastasized into a lot the worst parts of gamer discourse.

I dont care about somebody else's score/opinion but if they can't appreciate certain aspects of a game (or any piece of art) then they shouldn't be reviewing it professionally.

Like I think Michael Bay movies are mostly shit (just not my cup of tea) but I can appreciate and acknowledge the detail that goes into action sequences, I'd never give them a 1 star review because that's incredibly disingenuous or just downright ignorant.

There's no "minimum score" but if you want your opinion to be taken seriously you have acknowledge things it does well even if you personally dont care for them.

I think this kind of post is the most confusing to me. Not everyone likes the same fuckin' stuff. I'd give Skyrim a goddamn 2/10 and I'd get called clickbaity for that if I was a reviewer. I honestly think it's a terrible fucking game. Like not even bad, actually terrible, and that Bethesda has hardly improved in the years since.

Judging someone else's intent is extraordinarily difficult even when you've got a ton of evidence, trying to purge "clickbait" because you think a game is worthy of some objective minimum score is some IGN ass thinking. How the hell could you even use this game as an example? None of us have played farther than 2 hours into the story! It could turn to total shit! Wouldn't be the first time a big hyped game turns to shit partway through.

Or maybe some people just don't find it very good. Also we're grown ass men, none of us should give the tiniest shred of a fuck about whether these games meet some arbitrary score threshold or if some outlet wrote a hilariously bad review or whatever.

With the exception of it being a widespread thing that could actually do big damage to a game, like how God Hand was reviewed like shit but isn't the awful game everyone said it was, but is actually a completely acceptable and mediocre title with some fun ideas! Or the greatest game ever if you're a pervert.

I dont care what score it gets, but metacritic platforms and boosts the most negative reviews. They're feeding them clicks, that's the part that rubs me the wrong way. Just in general clickbait bullshit is rewarded far too often nowadays.

I pointed to TotK as an example also because obviously we've all played it already. Maybe it isnt intentionally clickbaity a lot of writers arent "gamers" they just take a writing job to pad their resume, but that sucks just as much.

Your skyrim take is crazy. I think Bethesda is a mostly shit company.I think starfield looks like fallout in space, but skyrim is one hell of a game.

  5. So I finally beat the Eikonic Battle part of the demo, I was already a 9.9/10 hype but hot damn it feels so good.

Only thing I'm not loving is the cooldown on on Eikon abilities, it interrupts the flow a bit and it's tough to keep track of when each ability is off cooldown, but maybe it's something I'll get used to with more time playing.

That second one a fantastically voice acted tho.

Also both of those scenarios in the demo are absolutely situations I'd be cursing up a storm they dont feel out of place at all. Maybe they shoe-horn in some naughty words later on but it such a non-sensical nothingburger to fuss over. I also read somewhere people are "boycotting" because lack of inclusion.

Gamers are 2nd to only Q-anon nutjobs as the most brain broken adult babies.

What I am looking forward to the most is seeing the sales numbers. SE was worried supposedly. Will Yoshi-P get the last laugh?

I mean, I don't care for how well it sells on a personal level. But it will be interesting to see if they announce anything or nothing at all.

So apparently they were worried about sales in Japan. Preorders are doing quite well in other regions from what I've read.

Honestly though don't really care, it's going to sell well enough, not worried about a giant corporation's stock price.

  8. I get the GoW comparisons but to me personally the newer games are like a 7/10. The heavy story focus already isn't quite my cup of tea and then on top of that story is just kind of bland/generic/played out, because it's based in greek mythology there is only so much iterating you can do. I do understand why other people like them though.

For FFXVI again I don't love the heavy story focus and long cutscenes but the story grabbed me because it's new and even though it for certain borrows from GoT I don't know exactly where things are going (I did predict the big "twist" in the demo though).

I finished the demo. And out of supposedly a 2-3 hr demo I actually played literally less than 20 minutes. That's not good at all. I get the opening might be front loaded with exposition but damn, that's not a great way to promote your game by having an watchable demo. Should have been a part of the game with 2-3 hrs of you know.. Gameplay

I personally agree with you but almost every person/article I've seen is saying it's one if not the single best demo ever.

I would've much preferred more gameplay but if this helps them sell extra copies I'm all for it, I already knew I was buying it anyways.

Oh, parts of the game will be for sure like this. FFXIV is the same way. However, there are 11 hours of cutscenes to the 60-ish hours it takes to get 100% (pretty sure Yoshi-P said that). I speculate that it will be like FFXIV in that it will lump a lot of the cutscenes together with minimal gameplay, and then have hours of content that is practically pure gameplay. I don't think the CS will be spread out enough for the quote to happen often. I do think that someone may set out to play a few hours of FFXVI only to end up having a movie night instead of a game night.

There's no doubt it will open up at some point. If there's 2 hours of cutscenes right at the start then theres 9 left spread over 60ish hours. Presumably there is going to be a lot of setup at the start, some sort of twist/climax in the middle and then a bunch at the end.

That would make the most sense. I definitely wish there were a bit less though. Hopefully this means they will cut down on expository dialogue, nothing like a character telling you "right, we're headed to X place" 10,000 times

I have beaten 3 bosses in total now, and the second one I didn't care for. I even watched a video after I was done with that boss to make sure I wasn't missing something. I wasn't. It was just a boss where you will never realistically drain its break meter and instead have to focus on just raw damage. I ended up just face-tanking it with my spin-to-win move.

That's how sekiro is too. You're supposed to break posture on like 99% of enemies but theres like 2-3 bosses that it's way easier to just do direct damage to them.

Oh no, I’ve been tracking this one for two years and it looked so promising! What didn’t you like about it?

It wasn't bad, it was just very generic. There's a Paper Mario-esque deflect mechanic (green shell attack), which is kind of gimmicky and annoying imo.

I think if you like quirky games you will probably enjoy it, but it killed my hype.
