    So

one of the core needs to go

Matthews is untouchable, I add Willy to that.

This team is not good enough.

Seriously though. On paper, they should be tearing it up. Not even trying to poke fun at the leafs, I truly don’t understand where the problem is. It’s clear changes are needed.

Marner, Mathews, Nylander, Tavares, even Domi. Nylander was out for a bit. But it makes me question what the problem is? Is it the players? Leadership? Coaching?

whatever it is, they really should try to figure it out. Unfortunately, as long as every ticket is sold for years ahead, it’s possible management just doesn’t give a shit. I know that was an accusation often levelled at them in the 90’s.

  2. Wow, this show was amazing. I think it’s the best new show I’ve watched in a while. I love the style of the Fallout games so much, and they nailed it. On top of that they filled the world with interesting characters, and a pretty well told story. Man, the last episode throws so much at us to explore in the future.

At least your cat went out like a boss throwing down with a coyote.

My beagle got his ass kicked by a poodle. It was embarrassing. He wasn’t even in his fat beagle stage yet where something like that was understandable.

Nah, he was like three then. Stupid dog. But then when he got older and fatter he would bully my sister’s pitbull/greyhound mix.

I had a couple of beagles 😂 great hunting hounds, dumber than a bag of rocks! Adorable and loyal though!

  4. While I definitely couldn’t kill my own dog, I know plenty of farmers who have. I don’t hold it against them in any way. In all the cases I know of though, these were old farm dogs that were dying, not healthy animals.

I have no problem in general with killing animals, I’ve killed many, hunting, farm animals, but pets are different. I did have to kill my own cat, but it had been attacked by a coyote, its back leg was half gone, I'm pretty sure its back was broken, and it was cut and bleeding. I was 15-16. It absolutely sucked and was heart wrenching, but letting him continue suffering was not an option.

but killing a healthy pet? Man, thats 9th circle of hell level shit.

I mean I’m still new to the game, but this year’s Bruins does not look like a team that can win it all. I feel like last year was their shot and they blew it.

Consider the playoffs a totally new season.

Hell, Montreal won in ‘93 on the strength of their goalie.

of all the teams the Bruins had, I never expected 2011 to be the year the win the cup. Not that they were weak, by any means, but the Caps or Lightning seemed the obvious choice.

LA Kings 2012 made no sense to anyone who followed that season.

Magic happens in the playoffs(but not for the Leafs).

Anybody else playing this? I need someone to talk about the game with because I’m a lonely son of a bitch.

Nope. Dropped off it hard. I had forced myself to mainline it on the promise it gets much better after beating it. Beat it, saw the twist, still thought it was mediocre and dropped off.

then again, I thought theyve been overrated for 15 years now. Haven’t made a good, modern feeling game since New Vegas. The rest of the genre moved forward while BGS has barely improved at all, imo.

Starfield would have felt special…. In 2014.

I completely understand your view and you are a much more forgiving gamer than I am and also you like way more genres. You are also much more positive and optimistic than I am and can play a mediocre game and absolutely have a blast with it. I'm just built so differently.

I take into account what some "professional" reviewers say because they are very intelligent and experienced with gaming and will usually steer the audience in the right direction in if a game is worth playing and buying. I know there are a lot of idiots/haters out there that review games ridiculously for click bait but I usually look at places like IGN and Easy Allies to let me know if a game is worth my time.

I obviously know what genres I'll like but reviews in a general sense are important to me.

they really aren’t at all. They are regular people with opinions. And the most widely popular ones are some of the worst. Kinda Funny “reviews” games but is basically an advertising campaign for AAA studios.

Easy Allies is a dead outlet and all the talent left.  The best show they had has basically been reworked and improved for Last Stand Media by Brad. EZA without Kyle, Brandon, Brad, and especially Ben just feels wrong.

MinnMax is great at fostering a community, but is the most surface level Dudebro review company out there. Started watching their “Rebirth Deepest Dive” podcast, and they basically never get into anything that isn’t directly shown on screen, while mentioning the theme of loss but never getting into how those themes affect the characters and the story. Most of the episode I watched was just them making dumb jokes and picking at the weirdest things.

IGN has become a joke. Unless a game is truly awful, their review scale starts at 8.

Gamespot does have some good reviewers, I’ll give them that. I respect Tams opinion a lot, even when I disagree, because he really goes deep into games.

The best network for actual gaming takes, imo, is Last Stand Media. They have an incredible and diverse cast. Colin, Micah, Gene Park, Cog, Raygun, Dustin Furman, and a host of rotating part timers with really varied tastes, and by far the best interviews with Industry figures out there. Plus they absolutely refuse to take any advertising funding from the games industry, so you don’t get stuff like Kinda Funny’s Calypso Protocol spoiler cast (where one of them outright states, “I was going to give this game a low 3/5, but after interviewing the director, I’m giving it a 4!”), right after doing a large paid sponsorship and having the director on their show.

None of this is a jab at you, it’s just weird that you think Games reviewers are smart or know more than you about games. They don’t. The only thing that makes them different is they get games early and get their opinion out there before anyone else.

Seeing the new “Reviewer to game developer” pipeline that has developed has also made me trust reviewers even less. Especially those tied to a platform.

    Full List For The Lazy

    10. Titanfall 2

    9. Wolfenstein The New Order

    8. Metro Last Light

    7. Borderlands 2

    6. Far Cry 3

    5. Doom 2016

    4. Bioshock

    3. Half Life 2

    2. Halo 3

    1. COD4 Modern Warfare

I've played and beaten most of these but not all. May need to check out Borderlands 2 at some point. I remember being turned off by the first game... in fact I think it was one of few games I returned so i didn't even bother with the second. Also I'm not sure if I would put COD4 at number one although I think it deserves a place on the list. Lastly if I was going to put a Halo game on here, i would put Reach over Halo 3 although I get why they wanted to put one that had Master Chief in it. Surprised none of the Stalker games made it though. Not a bad list over all.

Most of that list isn’t bad, but no way I would ever put MW at the top. Not that it’s bad in any way, theres just others I think are far better.
No way I would put MW above Titanfall 2. Or Doom 2016. Or Halflife anything, or Halo 3 (or two, which is my favourite Halo campaign and Arbiter deserved his own series).

  9. I gotta agree. I played other Saga games, and the demo for this was egregiously awful on every single level.

thankfully I still have a bunch of good RPG’s to complete, like Star Ocean’s most recent remake, the Grandia HD collection, and hopefully Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes if it’s good (I love Suikoden 1,2, and 3 as well if I remember correctly, it’s been a very long time).

i know it’s just a demo, but I don’t know how I could ever recommend this game to anyone. My short experience was just awful.

I disagree with a lot of this but I appreciate your perspective considering how highly you view OG FF7.

I also feel the opposite as crispy does. First, I loved playing Queen's Blood; anytime that opened up, that's what I started with. I'm also nearly 90 hours into the game on Ch. 12 and I've not bored of the side activities; the only problem I had was losing two hours of progress chocobo racing because of a power outage. But I actually enjoy racing and feel the chocobos handle very well, making it less frustrating to try to win. Plus, 3D Brawler was actually possible to win.

I also went to the divine temples to get summons, which were useful, especially Phoenix. Transmuter chips were a godsend. Cache locations don't give you a ton, but they're fun to find and they're easy to skip if you want. Plus, you have plenty of side quest opportunities to get more skill points and items, or combat arenas to get useful armors. Hell, the

    Chocobo Sage

stuff gives you an APx3 armor, which is sweet.

Huh? APx3 armor? What is it? I know he gave me a weapon for Cait Sith.

Yeah, but there's also a lot more "slowly walk down a hallway so people can give you an unnecessary long exposition." You could cut 75% of Chadley's lines and not lose a thing in the game.

It's a game that doesn't respect the player's time. There's a trend among older gamers who want shorter games because they don't have time in between work and family and blah blah blah. I'm not that kind of person, I've done two 80+ hour playthroughs of Cyberpunk. But none of the side stuff in Rebirth really has value. What was even the reward for finishing all the Queen's Blood matches? It never felt like any of the side stuff led to anything worthwhile other than checking off a box on a list. Until the Protorelic stuff at the end, but by then I was so burnt out and just wanted to mash Square through the combat anyhow.

I guess I just fundamentally disagree. I absolutely loved doing everything this game has given to me. Except the chicken side quest. So many great pieces of lore and easter eggs behind all of it. The protorelic stuff was awesome, fighting classic monsters from the games past throughout the different lands. The Turk stuff in Gongaga was an awesome treat.

as far as QB, it being so good was reward enough in itself. Completing my card collection is enough.

Haha, I’m REALLY slow sometimes with games, just taking it in and such.

And with the crunches, I’ve got the press and tap prompts down, it’s just that against Jules, you CAN’T make a mistake otherwise he’ll be ahead of you by ten and you can’t catch up. And it’s never the prompts where I screw up, it will just be a basic button press where I slip up.

EDIT: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I JUST BEAT IT. 56-51!

Oh yeah, I’ll never beat him. It’s one thing I haven’t even tried to complete as I clean up my save file.

The first group you're talking about isn't really going after Bayonetta because that's kind of her whole schtick. I'd say there's a big difference between a character like Bayonetta and, say, Aloy. The number of people complaining about Bayonetta is wildly dwarfed by crazy people who think Aloy isn't attractive enough in post-apocalyptic open world kill the robot dinosaur game.

There's room for everything in this world, but the first group isn't the one making every comment sections toxic and sending death threats to developers.

I think a lot of companies could do better. I look at Nintendo's roster of Mario characters and all I am think is "Hey, you've got three princesses. Really couldn't have hurt to give Rosalina a bit of melanin, right?" My 5yo's two favorite fictional characters is Princess Peach and Ghost Spider. However, she's dictated that any game I play that has a character creator means I need to have to play as a brown girl with curly hair, just like her...well, except she's got to have pink hair, just because.

That's why my Pokemon trainer looks like this...

    npk56JF.jpeg

And my PC in Starfield like this...

    6mZoObo.png

Would be nice to get more options in games that don't have character creators.

I think these toxic gamers complaining about this stuff are just naive to the fact that even the "curvy girls" and fan service is just pandering. If they think "forced" inclusivity is pandering to people that aren't them, they're completely ignorant to the fact that the stuff they're asking for has always been pandering. These scantily class women only ever existed in stuff like games, anime, and comics to pander to young boys. Why? Because it was easier for an 11yo to sneak copies of Power Girl than Playboy back in 1992. However, it's 2024, the Internet is right there, and kids don't even have to figure out the code to unlock Cinemax anymore.

Kids these days don't even have to worry about their parents wondering why their VHS copy of True Lies runs kind of funny around a certain Jamie Lee Curtis scene...what?

But you have all that representation in other games. This game plays up the sexiness and suddenly it’s sexist. I really do agree it’s manufactured outrage, but its coming from the people who are truly supposed to care about free expression. People need to speak with their dollars instead of attacking people over playing a game. It didn’t work with Hogwarts Legacy.

and im not talking about here, im talking about attacks Ive seen on social media and resetera towards fans and devs of the game.

and yes, the Bayonetta thing is a complete double standard.

  15. Ok, I beat this demo today. The Abbaddon fight is crazy, and this demo is very, very good.

I definitely don’t see it as souls aside from having a very good parry system.

I went from passive interest to definitely buying this game. The movement is fluid, feels a little like the action movement of Rebirth, yet greatly expanded and improved.

This is the first game to really interest me since Rebirth. I dropped off DD2 after accidentally losing multiple hours of progress in a game I already don’t find that fun or interesting, so this was a nice change. Also, FFxVI dlc will tide me over hopefully.

That seems pretty rough. Like you have to actively stop your party members from fighting them.

Over and over attacks pass straight through enemies. Not just once in a while. Really weird that you’re so hostile about me calling out problems with this game.
