Here's the scarier thing... I was talking to a friend of mine today and he said if Trump is a Russian asset, we're basically fucked. The amount of info that Trump has access to that he could pass along, especially in an unmonitored two hour meeting is staggering. If he is a traitor, we are well and truly fucked and I'm legit nervous. More nervous than I was after 9/11. This is an EXISTENTIAL threat to the country.

I would hope the NSA bugged Trump's phone just for this meeting.

Trump did not bring up Montenegro himself. It was used as an example by Tucker Carlson during an interview on Fox News.

"Membership in NATO obligates the members to defend any other member that's attacked," Carlson said. "So let’s say Montenegro, which joined last year, is attacked. Why should my son go to Montenegro to defend it from attack?"

Trump answered: "I understand what you're saying. I've asked the same question. Montenegro is a tiny country with very strong people. … They're very aggressive people. They may get aggressive, and congratulations you're in World War III."

By saying that he had "asked the same question" why Americans troops should be asked to defend their allies, Trump was challenging the entire point of NATO.

Article 5 of its founding treaty states that an attack on one member "shall be considered an attack against them all" and is at the "very heart" of the organization. It doesn't specifically mandate allies respond with force but that's the spirit in which many see it.

The only time Article 5 was invoked was on behalf of the U.S. after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

It's not the first time Trump has questioned the principle of mutual defense. During his presidential campaign he told The New York Times that his willingness to protect smaller states from Russia was conditional on their defense spending. He was also slow to commit to Article 5 once in office.

“The Senate certainly shouldn't try to jam anything through until Scott Brown is seated,” President Barack Obama told ABC the day after Scott Brown won an open seat, knocking Democrats' filibuster-proof majority to 59. “The people in Massachusetts spoke. He's got to be part of that process.”

For real though I think Trump is going to completely sell out Ukraine and probably even some NATO Baltic states to Putin.

Well, they were historically under the boot of the Soviets, so why not???

So, yes.  He assumes they are a part of NATO.

Let's assume that Obama KNEW everything about what Russia was trying to do, and was sure that Hillary would win.  If that's the case, why did Obama keep the Russia meddling secret?  Wouldn't leaking to the press, or even having the government brief the country directly, about how Russia was trying to help Trump and hurt Clinton pad her win?

I have considered this possibility, but like @mclumber1, my experience is that my bank is over cautious and pretty good. Might not hurt to have an extra layer, but I have to weigh that against making sure another bill is paid off on time :p My impression is that card security in general is getting better too though.

I think in general card security is getting better.  The card companies must have some pretty good algorithms to identify suspicious activity, because my card was once frozen within a few minutes of a thief using it to purchase something for like $28.
