The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Finally put this one to bed after playing it more or less exclusively since it came out.

Like Elden Ring, TotK suffers from being a bigger, longer version of something I played to death already.  As time went on, the charm wore progressively thin and I just wanted it to be done and there was just more and more of it laid out in front of me.  I've been fighting basically the same monsters for over 200 hours now and there's not really anything interesting to add to the mix.  The building system is interesting and novel, but the game rarely gives you a reason to do it.  The dungeons are better and more of a highlight than BotW, but there's still so few of them overall.

Really where it got to be a grind was there were just so many quests and side things to do, and because of the systems involved they're all fundamentally pointless.  I could scour this corner of the map for seven special objects to bring to one place and then I'll get... some weapons that will break.  Why should I bother?  Yes, I could get every set of armor, but the upgrade costs for each set are so steep that I'm better off focusing on one as opposed to spending dozens of hours farming bits and bobs off of enemies.

Still, I really enjoyed the vast majority of it, I just was ready for it to be over long before I got through even a decent chunk of the content on offer.  The storyline was a good time even though being able to find it in whatever order you please kind of robbed me of some of the intrigue based on what I stumbled across first.  The end fight is properly entertaining and a big spectacle.  I'm glad they've announced that they're leaving this style behind for the next one because as much as I liked these two, the idea of another game exactly like this is just too much.

The pilot ejected safely from the fighter jet near Charleston, S.C. Now the Marines want the public's help in finding the aircraft, which is part of a training and demonstration squadron.

A SC rep asked on the pedo bird app why it doesn’t have a tracker on it, which seems like a generally poor idea for a plane that’s supposed to be hard to find and all.

Yeah and as for the hard evidence, what do these people need? A video? Like most cases of sexual assault don’t leave much in the way of hard evidence. Even genital trauma tries to get passed off as rough sex .

Even then it doesn’t matter.  It’s team sports all the way down.  Short of a video of someone in perfect clarity of an obvious and extremely violent rape, a huge portion of people are not going to care.

The self service soda stations suck ass.  Hardly ever maintained it cleaned, as wet as the floor of a men’s room for the blind, weird ass lid dispensers, etc.  I almost never see anyone go back for more either.  So if it’s an extra hassle to keep clean because the general public are monsters and the vast majority of people are one and done, then yeah, remove them.

For one, that's probably the biggest near-miss we've had since the Cold War. I don't want to hint that it would escalate to a nuclear exchange. But a Russian jet shooting down and killing 30 RAF personnel would really cause some big escalations. I would imagine had this happened, the UK might have invoked Article 4 of the NATO charter to consult the alliance about how to respond.

But what gets me is this reporting. The story out of the British Press is the pilot went rogue. That isn't what happened. It was an interpretation mistake between the Russians:

But what's even crazier is that BOTH of the missiles missed. The first didn't lock and the second didn't ignite.

This is where my religious upbringing comes to the fore. The potential for absolute disaster here was extremely high and not one but TWO extremely unlikely things happened one right after the other. That's nothing short of miraculous providence to me.

Given the apparent state of the Russian military, two simultaneous malfunctions doesn’t seem like divine intervention.

No wonder why Phil had to jump to the LIV before they merged with the PGA.

This is the one thing I disagree with the late great George Carlin on. I fucking love golf, even with all the frustration it brings. It’s a fun 3-4hrs of hanging out with your buddies drinking/smoking/share some joints with. (I get calm and better after some weed) You’re either encouraging your friends on a good shot or taking a fun jab at their terrible shot. Plus I have good memories with my dad. Maybe too many out there and could be used for better housing purposes.

I see the same arguments trotted out over watching baseball.  I think men in general need to get over the idea that they need a reason to just hang out and then we can fucking bury baseball/golf/nascar/whatever in a shallow grave and move the fuck on.
