I wasn't expecting perfect. I was expecting something competitive with GoW and Spiderman and right now it very much does not feel that way.

Don't know what to say, other than giving the game more time. It's kind of massive, with a lot to offer, so judging it before you really get out of the gate, isn't very accurate or fair.

My issues with the leveling system is not jank, it's a fundamental design decision that I think is poorly thought out and feels shoehorned. Right now, it seems like they shouldn't have even bothered pretending this was an RPG because the result seems like a worse system than going more pure action-adventure (as in former entries) or pure Action-RPG.

My comment was obviously referring to your two examples, which isn't indicative of the game as a whole and is really quite rare. As for the leveling, I feel this game was designed for the player to progress by doing main quests and side quests. I did that and never once had a problem with being under leveled. Picking up gear that may be a level or two higher? I've played probably a dozen games over the years that do this.

I'm not going to change your mind but these are non issues from my point of view.

My issue with them removing the choice to play as an assassin (which is in the title of the damn game!)  in one the early missions is not jank either. Hopefully that's more of a once off since it was early.

Some of the jank also amplifies what I dislike about their leveling system, and some of it is just more typical jank. (And some of the more typical jank I've experienced I didn't even mention because it is so damn typical. E.g., horse issues :p But, jesus, compared to RDR the horse control is a gift from God even with the jank that it has)

  2. What I find funny is, after 75 hours put into Odyssey, finding out about all the "problems" this game has. Lol.

Like every game ever made, it isn't perfect. It doesn't have any issues worth mentioning to be honest and it's easily one of the best AC games made and is a definite step up and evolution from Origins.

Like was mentioned above, with such a large game, there's going to be a bit of jank. This game might as well be perfection compared to a Bethesda game, though.

EDIT : I think either way, the game gets better as it goes along.

Obra Dinn only nominated for art direction and "best indie game"?

Man, the story in that game has hooked me more than any of the top-tier schlock we've had this year.

    Fucking Detroit?

It's okay that you like shitty garbage, but don't try to convince us it's chocolate.

And it's ok that you're an idiot.

I made no comment about it winning some award or another, but sorry, it's not garbage. Fact.

Because there is no reason for it all.Imagine if one of the streaming sites decided that to FF, RW, or Pause a movie you would have to enter a 5 digit number on your remote. Outside a of a few most people would not excuse it. Its a poor choice that only dampens the experience, combined with a UI that should be taught in school as what not to do.

I think, like many things in the game, Rockstar is going for an immersion thing here, making it more realistic.  As in you would have to get off of your horse and pull your long rifles out of your saddle slots or whatnot.  I certainly don't think there's no reason for it.

This unlike the loadout issue actually serves a purpose even if I dont likeit, all though you shouldnt have to choose each item individually, imo it takes the mechanic and draws it out into the absurd.

Of course this could be improved, but I don't find it that bad.

What are you trying to say here? Its OK to not like it but if you dont like it sounds stupid .

I think I'm leaning more heavily on the "this game sucks" comments more than anything rather than someone not having fun.  And yes, that sounds stupid, because it doesn't suck.  At all.  There are other game genres that I dislike and have no interest for them, but I can easily recognize that they're high quality for what they're trying to do.

This isn't a matter of skill. It is noting like Dark Souls that almost purely relies on the player mastering the mechanics. RDR2 is ridiculously easy from start to finish.

I was being cheeky.  I didn't mean to suggest that RDR2 was a game of incredible skill.  I've just found that once I played it for awhile, I adapted to the game and there weren't any issues.  Certainly not anything that would stand out or detract from my enjoyment.

That literally shouldn't be an issue. And this isn't even true. I have had weapons equipped but when I got off my horse they were put back on. It isn't just check, it is check every time and even twice. You can like it, sure, but it is still an inconvenience. Not only that but the game will force weapons on me all the time. Specifically the bolt action rifle. I always got pump shotgun and repeater, but the game has often taken one of them away to give me the bolt action. This isn't counting the missions where you HAVE to use a scoped gun. My bolt action isn't even scoped as I never use it. Just give me a goddamn weapon wheel.

I've had this happen a few times.  Most of the time, if I get off my horse, check the wheel and equip what I want to equip, there are no issues.  I've had it swap my revolver out for the volcanic pistol a few times.

I do. It isn't just drawers. It is that plus everything else. And it isn't life. It is a video game.

Well, whether you agree or not, I think Rockstar made the decision to have this be a more serious game.  Sure, there are comedic moments of course, but this isn't GTA chaos in the old west.  Basically, I'm just saying that pretty much every game that I've played has had things that would have worked better or would have been nice if they were different.  It would have to be some kind of atrocious for it to come even close to ruining my enjoyment of the game, and RDR2 isn't that game.  Not even close.

Some people like black licorice. I sure as fuck don't. It is awful. Not and exaggeration. You can think what you'd like but you're wrong.

About black licorice? :p I can take it or leave it.

RDR2 doesn't suck, but it sure doesn't try to be fun nor does it bring a challenge. I am fine with a game lacking fun if it is a challenge. I am fine with a game lacking a challenge if it is fun. I'd prefer it be both, but at least one or the other. This game isn't either. At least there are many cool moments, IMO, and one of the best main characters, and easily the best R* character. I said the game was a 7/10 a bit ago, and that is still what it is to me. irrelevant, but that is the same score I gave to BOTW another well reviewed title that did many things I didn't like.

  6. So.  I just got to chapter 5 last night, so I'm a fair bit along.  From my point of view, just like with every fucking game in existence, this game isn't perfect.  Nonetheless, it is pretty fucking amazing, as it's arguably the finest open world game made to date.

Now as to the copious amounts of complaints in this thread with all of the "problems" with this game, I almost want to say "get guud". :p

Firstly, if something isn't working in the game as designed, as in something not activating, then that's different and that definitely sucks.  I personally haven't encountered very many of these situations at all.  A few, but nothing major.

As to the control, I just don't see what everyone's bitching about.  I was awkward as fuck when I first started playing this and got better the more I played it.  Simple.  Problem with not having the weapons that you like in your loadout?  Check them before you leave your horse.  It's not exactly a hard exercise to remember.  Does it take a second to open drawers and shut them?  Sure, but really, who cares?  It would be nice to just tap the button, but that's life.

In all my time with this game so far, it has been immensely enjoyable, immersive and yes, it has that Rockstar flavor that you can certainly recognize from previous games.  It's obviously not going to be for everyone, but to say that it isn't fun or it sucks?  Well, that just sounds stupid.

To each his/her own I guess, but I think there's a whole lot of exaggeration going on up in here.

Interesting that the original AC is ranked last. I remember game flying it when it came out, putting an hour into it and sending it back. That game turned me off to the series and I never looked back until Origins :p I AM gonna play them all now because I actually like the lore. Are all the AC games B.C. on Xbox now? I know at least AC, ACIII and Syndicate are because I actually own those :p I bought Unity for my nephew as well.

AC was a great idea that just didn't see the execution.  Lots of repetition.  ACII was a massive improvement in everyone way over the first game.

AC:Origins is a very different game from the previous games -- I have only played about an hour of Odyssey (so I won't rank).

    My rankings:

    ACIV: Black Flag

    AC: Brotherhood

    ACII

    AC:Origins

    AC:Syndicate

    AC:III
    AC Revelations

    AC: Unity

    AC

Edited:  I added AC:Syndicate.  I didn't include AC:Rogue or any of the handheld games.

This list isn't crazy.  Odyssey is arguably the best AC yet.  I too love the RPG conversion of this series.  I've put in around 70 hours so far in Odyssey and I'm not the least bit tired or burned out on it.

I also have a soft spot for Syndicate as I really liked the twins, especially Evie.

I would also say that Unity is very good.  It was a fucking technical disaster, but if you play it now with everything ironed out, it's probably one of the more technically impressive AC games at that time.  Too bad they fucked the launch.
