I remember when I first started Odyssey I was a little disappointed with the combat in comparison to Origins. Of course that was after spending over 70 hours with origins though :p Now I've gotten used to Odyssey... I just need to get back to it. The amount of content in that game can be a bit overwhelming.

Odyssey is no joke.  I ended my play through at around 215 hours.  That's pretty much everything outside of maybe a few tales of Greece side quests and includes all the DLC.  The second DLC was absolutely fantastic.

I'm pretty much opposite  with Origins though.  I thought I would be over the moon as I love ancient Egypt, but visually, I enjoyed the color pallet of Greece more.  I think all the sand just got to me.  :p  Got about 60 hours into Origins.  I actually started a new game to redo it with a fresh set of eyes after going through Odyssey.

Most of the cutscenes are in 1st person but the bigger cinematic scenes will be in 3rd.

You will also see your character in mirrors, in the inventory menu and if you choose to view your bike in 3rd person while driving around.

Nothing really has changed or has been removed. All the previewd 3rd person cutscenes likely still exist it's just they pale in quantity next to the 1st person scenes.

This is exactly what I was thinking.  Cut scenes and mirrors.

200 hours total and all but a handful of achievements related to builds of my character in which I wasn't going to respec just to unlock. Very proud of myself and loved this title. I was suffering from trepidation at first having had so much enjoyment with Origins and at first glance, it looked like a step back. I took time until I fired it up (6ish months + after release) and the only regret I have is really rather two-fold: 1. I should have played this sooner & 2. Because I waited so long, I shouldn't have pre-ordered so I could have saved a few bucks. That's all hindsight, I loved everything about it, most especially the Leonidas & Greek Mythos angles. Perhaps my most favorite in terms of quests, however I did have a bit more enjoyment initially with exploration in Black Flag, this stands right next to that when all was said and done. I still believe Origins was a prettier title but I loved the lore in this, cannot wait for the next AC!

Very similar to you, @SoberChef!  I  started a new game plus after around 215 hours.  There's only so much I can play though, so I've taken a break. :p

I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this game and how much more I played of this than Origins (only around 60 hrs for that).

One of my favorite AC titles for sure.

I have to agree that all of the DLC has been pretty good for Odyssey.  I think I enjoyed the first one more than you did -- what were the forced decisions in the first DLC?  I don't think I came across them.

    Spoiler

Being forced into a relationship I had no interest in.  Having my character that I've played for 130+ hours not only fall for a schmuck but have a child with him.  The story would have fit if this was a specific narrative type game like Uncharted or God of War where they're telling an exact story.  Odyssey has always been about as open ended as it could be, so to switch gear like that was a bit jarring.

The story telling of it was good, just didn't fit with how they operated in making the rest of the game.  At least he died, so that made me feel better. :p

  5. Just finished chapter two for the Atlantis DLC.  While the first DLC story was ok, aside from the forced decisions, this one was a huge step up.

Really enjoyed it.  Totally new areas to explore, good story, great call backs.

If you enjoyed Odyssey, I'd really recommend you check this one out.  Oh, and new enhancements to abilities that are pretty cool as well.

So this is my first MK since Deadly Alliance and I never played any of the Injustice games. I started the story mode last night and HOLY SHIT is this awesome. I’m def going back through at least the two Injustices after this.

After that I’m finding the unlockables and stuff to be confusing AF. I keep thinking I unlock things after matches but then can never find them. I wish charcwtes had a flashing “new” or something over them.

There's a lot of moving pieces in this game for sure!  From konsumables to gear pieces to augments to all the different currencies, it a bit.

They are addressing the grind though so we'll see how that goes.  As fun a game as this is, it shouldn't take a 1000 hours to unlock everything.

I also started playing around with the AI characters.  You can set their tendencies and then let them loose in AI battles or in the towers of time.  They'll also do fatalities and brutalities 9 times out of 10 so you get to see some stuff that you haven't unlocked yet.  You also get trophies for some of that as well.

  7. As others have said, they're both very good, but I would go with Odyssey as it is an evolution of what they started in Origins and I enjoyed the setting more.

This is weird to me as I love ancient Egypt.  I think I just got tired of looking at all the fucking sand. lol.

Odyssey is a better game, IMO, but personal taste could sway you in the Origins direction pretty easily.

  8. How does half of a fucking thousand people indicate half the player base?  While I would say that a good chunk of the player base has probably put it on pause until things improve, that article is literally saying nothing.

For me, they got my money and I don't regret it one bit.  I'll be with them to the end, but I can easily play something else until they sort things out.

As for saying the game is too broken to fix?  What the fuck is that?  Do we have some super secret knowledge of how this game was developed to say such a thing?  Somehow I think not.

The Division is the poster child for why you shouldn't give up or drop support for something like this.  The parallels to what Massive went through on D1 are almost identical.  Fantastic and detail world? Check.  Fun gameplay? Check.  Incredibly complex systems that are a real challenge to have working properly and not have something broken? Check.  Lacking content and meaningful things to do?  Check.  Fucked up loot situation at launch?  Check.

If given the chance, they'll fix it and it will end up in a really good place.  I don't know how you can just say fuck it to 6 years of development cost and abandon it.

holy fuck!!! this was the problem. LMAO. i had like 3 printer filaments. ive been selling off all my mods that i didnt need because i was low on credits. i wound up scraping a bunch and i was able to upgrade.

EDIT - I do want to say that in my defense, it never showed a pop up screen saying i didnt have enough material. so i never even looked at the requirements or anything (TBH, i didnt even know materials were needed bc every other time it just upgraded. still dumb on my part for not paying more attention.

Lol.  Did the same thing.  I'm only on WT3 right now, but it's very easy to miss.

  10. How does he know they didn't read it?  Did Bioware's response come out before the article did?

Also, who the fuck is being defensive here?  Schreier basically cries poor me like they're slinging personal attacks and then calls them cowards.  Super professional.

I'm on break from Anthem right now for obvious reasons.  A big part of that is the Division 2 which is excellent.  I will echo above that the world and gameplay in Anthem are fantastic.  They need to sort out their loot situation and quick and they need to work overtime making more loot as well as more content/activities to do.  If they stick with this, which I see no reason why you wouldn't, this will be an excellent game at some point.

It was a set piece. I thought all high-end gear is named?

also - I guess as I progress through world tier 1, every time I complete a stronghold the next stronghold gear requirements go up? Looks like tidal basin is 375 but I still have to do the capital stronghold. But isnt max gear like 465 or something? How is I have to go through this 2 more times before wt4 when there isn’t that much of a spread?

I don't mean brand names. Like a boss's gear piece. It would have their name on it. That's what happened with me anyway.

So I’m trying to recalibrate a pair of gloves. I have an exact pair just lower skill level and I want to re-roll the talent from the lower pair of gloves to the higher and it won’t let me. Talent recalibration is greyed our?

Is it named? I'm not 100%, but you might not be able to recalibrate named high ends. I had that happen this afternoon.
