More 'Pokemon Concierge' episodes are coming to Netflix.

Did nobody else watch this? I watched the first season with my kids, but kids need not apply here. The first season was so good. It's just a nice, cozy, slice of life with Pokemon.

Come on, Pokemon Company. Nintendo has already made a bunch of felt games for like Kirby and Yoshi. Where's my felt Pokemon game to go along with my felt Pokemon animated series?

Yeah, but while the N64 and Virtual Boy struggled they had the GB and GBC. While the Gamecube struggled, they had the GBA. while the Wii U struggled they had the 3DS. Even their bust years had some steady stream of cash coming in. Yeah, the N64 didn't sell much, but that's also the same year we got Pokemon.

Gah, almost had this one in two and changed my mind.

Both those consoles are pretty much what happens if Nintendo only appeals to its core base.  The Wii U even less than the Cube though.  And the Switch was them at their full potential.  65.5 million Mario Kart 8's vs 8.5 million.

Full potential, because they weren't splitting their focus. The Switch add a "home console" is a successful turn after the Wii U, but the Switch is also just the next generation of a long line of very successful handheld consoles. We can talk about Nintendo's rough generations, but they've also never had anything more than a year or two where they didn't have some piece of hardware printing money.

This is true, but I don't think this is true on the business end. Nintendo is a very well run business. They might not focus much on trying to inflate stock prices, but they do have a good understanding of their long term goals and do pretty well to not have to layoff devs while also maintaining industry leading employee retention rates. Nintendo has what? Like a 99% retention rate with the average length of employment more than a dozen years? There is definitely something in the water there.

It took the Switch for people to actually buy these games en masse.

I mean, Mario Kart 8 did sell like 8.5m  copies on the Wii U. Sure, nowhere near 60m copies it's sold in the Switch, but I don't think Nintendo considers 8.5m sold for any of their games not a success.

That's kind of the thing with Nintendo. More than most other publishers, they do a great job keeping their expectations in check and budgeting accordingly.

I wish Nintendo shared game budgets. I'd love to know how much a big JRPG like Xenoblade Chronicles cost to make.

None of these characters are the problem. Sony not caring about the properties and tossing them over the least creative writers that can reliably throw a script together over a single weekend, quality be damned, is the problem.

I wonder if Nintendo would go hardware lock or software lock on Switch 2 games inserted into a Switch. By hardware lock, I mean what they did with the 3DS where there was that small extra tab of plastic to keep them from being physically inserted into a DS. It's either that or go with GBC route and just cough up an error message when you try to load up the game on older hardware.

Yeah, but it was initially announced as having a story-rich campaign mode that could be tackled single player or co-op. That's a game I've wanted for decades. I don't think a game has really scratched that itch for me since the like Pirates remake 20 whole years ago.

Really trying to figure out why anyone that wants a live service pirate game would choose this over Sea of Thieves.

The price is only getting jacked up when you compare Funimation's $6/mo to Crunchyroll's $8/mo. It is, however, a bullshit move to imply folks have to migrate to the $10/mo plan. The $10/mo plan is the family plan with 4 concurrent streams and offline downloads. If you don't need either of those, it's really a $2/mo increase and Crunchyroll bumped prices up to that several years ago.
