  1. I ended up selling some AMC so now everything I make on it is profit. If it does dip to 11, I may buy some more. If it does something stupid and goes to like 5, I'll definitely buy more. But, I actually like the stock. Moreso now that they've been able to stave off bankruptcy. Once we re-open there is going to be a huge backlog of blockbusters.

    AMC 12.40 after hours

@Joe @ManUtdRedDevilsI'm taking you each to the baseball game of your choice when we go moon. I'll even buy you a hotdog.

I set a limit order to sell 40 of my shares to cover my initial investment, but I'm seeing the stock go up AH so I cancelled it. I'm hoping that it gets an additional push from Europe and we get back over 20 tomorrow.

I now wish I would have bought more at $6.50 earlier today.

  3. I started investing with the first stim check. I had like 60 shares of AMC that I was holding and just praying they wouldn't file for Bankruptcy. I caught wind of this WSB thing last week sometime, so I picked up about 50 more shares of AMC earlier this week on that speculation and because they staved off bankruptcy. I actually had like 10 shares of GME that I sold at 45 last week and of course now I feel like an idiot.  Let's hope AMC makes me feel slightly less stupid.

    or anyone poor

Or just voting in a State where rules were changed by the Governor, but only if that State also voted for Biden.

This is the Republicans doing everything they can to hold onto the new GOP voters that are really just assholes that normally wouldn't vote, that were inspired to vote because they see alot of themselves in Donald Trump.

This is what you'll generally find for this information online. I qualified it, as you said, to account for just such instances, but my understanding is no, it's not "half" or anything like that. And even if you were raised by old boomers (ones geared closer to the silent generation), there's always overlap in generational thought as well on the edges. As I said, no group is monolithic, but to be clear, this is not "my" math. This is just what's generally agreed upon - there are no hard and fast rules here so there's room for exceptions, etc. :)

Understood, it just strikes me as wrong. The average age of a first time mother in 72 is 21.5, that would make them fall smack dab in the middle of being a boomer and their kids, more or less in the middle of Gen X. I'm going to dig around and see if I can find some information about this.

I agree with everything you've said here - just to be clear, Gen X'ers were raised by the generation before Boomers, not Boomers themselves (for the most part - no rule/group is monolithic of course) - most people part of a generation are raised by one generation removed given age gaps. So Gen Xers were raised by the "silent generation/lucky few", millennials were raised by boomers (explains why millennials hate boomers so much) and zoomers are being raised by Gen Xers, and millennials now having kids are raising "generation alpha".

I don't think your math checks out. I am the youngest of 3 brothers and was born in 79, both of my parents are firmly in the Baby Boom generation (Dad was born in 49, Mom in 53). I know you qualified it, but I would guess that almost half of Gen X was raised by Boomer parents because people tended to have families at a much younger age back then. An early boomer would have been 20 in 66 and it probably wouldn't be weird for them to have children at that age. .

Any GOP with tangible skin in the game has stopped this overturning election results shit. From Barr to the Supreme Court to McConnell.

At this point it's only the true believers that are pushing this bullshit. At the very minimum, I couldn't see Collins or Romney voting for overturning the election and that would be enough to end whatever fuckery they attempt on January 6th.

This is clearly an exercise in poisoning the waters of a Biden presidency and fundraising for the Trump family from here on out. Not that it was ever anything but that.

So to those more in tune with this shit possibly than I am...and not sure if this is the thread for it:

I just got a pretty close to insane string of rant-y messages from a family member I can't, and won't, just blow off with a 'fuck you you're crazy' going off begging me to buy rations for two weeks because there's a 'blackout, complete lockdown and martial law' coming and Trump is uncovering all the things he found during his four years. And also, "DO NOT LET THEM GIVE YOU THE VACCINE".

I'm legitimately concerned for their mental well being and also kind of rattled by self-serious nature of this outburst and before I engage I'm kind of curious if anyone in here more 'versed' on crazy right-wing websites or whatever shit it may be knows what the fuck they may be talking about? Is there some fresh, hot and new idiotic conspiracy of total Liberal martial law going on for this week or...is this like an every day thing for these people? I know this may be a dumb question but some posters on here are probably the most politically knowledgeable folks I can ask.

All of these conspiracy theories really just run together at this point. But they're probably alluding to what Q-Anon followers call "The Storm" that's when things go silent for 2 weeks, institutes martial law and the baddies (Dems, Hollywood Libs, and now RINOs, basically people that don't like Trump) are all rounded up, put before military tribunals and then executed. At first the alleged crimes were about child sex trafficking and Adrenochrome harvesting, now they include "election rigging" and Treason. The vaccine stuff is just an offshoot of that craziness.

Something worth mentioning (for all the people saying that restrictions are causing suicides, why aren't people talking about it, etc):

While the COVID-19 pandemic, along with many of the other issues facing Albertans this year, has taken a serious toll on the mental health of many people, the province's suicide...

Suicides are down in Canada this year, and apparently in Europe as well. The one place they are up is the USA. I have no proof, but I'd guess the cause is the difference in financial support provided by the government. It can't be the lock downs themselves since those have generally been stronger in Canada and EU, as well.

I know if the US the "OPEN EVERYTHING NOW" camp loved to yell about how closing down would lead to more suicides. I'm sure seeing that thought amplified daily in the news and by authority figures drove up suicide numbers.

Yep thats exactly what is happening. They feel Trump has given them license to drop the mask.

I checked some of the crazier conservative corners of the internet and they are already pushing for the insurrection act, marshall law, military intervention, etc. I don't for one minute think that Trump would get away with this. If anything, this could be the thing that sees him dragged out of the White House in handcuffs. However, I don't doubt that he will happen upon this and he will be tempted to do it. It may even show up on his Twitter account in the form of a RT.

He basically lost this 9-0 and it's fucking hilarious that this is what they saw as their best shot. Eat shit MAGA turds (not that any post here, but maybe some lurk)?

heaven knows Trumps Twitter is a perfect record of the asshat claims the GOP has been making

Now we get to move on to the "Trump should just declare Marshall Law and suspend the Electoral College vote phase of the game.

I don't want any of this, but if we must have it, then I DEFINITELY WANT THIS!

I'd be in favor of televising this hearing. I'd love to hear Trump cite Fox News/OAN/Newmax/Q-Anon conspiracies in front of the Supreme Court. There's also a great chance that he reminds 3 of the justices why they are there, in no uncertain terms.

Also, while the idea of this going all the way to SCOTUS scares the shit out of me, there's also a part of me that wants to see how individual SCOTUS justices act when put in this position.

"president Biden's election was under the cloud of fraud/is illegitimate so we won't be voting on any of his cabinet nominees outside of what is required for national security" is a real thing we may end up hearing, or the laughably bad faith "president Biden's illegitimate nominees are unqualified so we won't be confirming them"

In the event that this happens, can't Biden just do the shit that Trump does and name "acting" cabinet members? If the Senate chooses to not vote on them, that really doesn't matter, right?

Family Matters was a great show both because of and in spite of its most memorable character.

It's like the Nicholas Cage of tv shows.

You could make the case for this being true of The Rock, but Con-Air, Gone in 60 seconds, Raising Arizona, Adaptation, and Face Off are undeniably better films because Nic Cage is in them. Not in spite of him being in them.

Oh man what do you even think the conspiracy theories about this are going to be?

The Q thinking on this ties back to their belief that John McCain wasn't an old man that died of cancer, he was actually put to death for horrible crimes (that go unnamed). Their "proof" was that McCain wore a walking boot towards the end of his life, they reasoned that this boot actually hid an ankle bracelet/tracker because he McCain was on (secret) trial. According to them Biden's now being tried in secret by a military tribunal.

I feel dirty knowing that, but that's just where I am in my life.

People go off on tangents on D1P nonstop so I was just commenting on some cool movies, not stanning for James Woods. He's been known to be a fucking tool for a long time. If it looked otherwise, my bad for my curt response.

No problem man, it's a message board and shit like that happens.

Here's the funny thing, I wouldn't stan for him as a person, like I said, piece of shit, but Woods can be a really fucking good character actor. So I guess that I'm a fan of his acting. The same goes for Jon Voight(Deliverance, Mission Impossible, Heat, Enemy of the State) and Randy Quaid (I think he makes the Christmas and Vegas Vacation films much better).

Have you guys seen Salvador? That's a great movie and James Woods is really good in it.

He's good in Any Given Sunday as well. He can be a good actor, have a high IQ, and still be a piece of shit in terms of his political and social views. It's not like those things are mutually exclusive.
