Screen tearing is one of the main issues Digital Foundry has with DLSS 3. The VSync not working is as currently intended by Nvidia, so if it goes to a higher frame rate than your monitor supports you get tearing, even with Gsync.

Don’t worry, every time the software updates it resets the card back to default and deletes anything you have set. It's super awesome that way.

The default is a rainbow wave using, I assume, basically all possible colors; the wave in Mystic Light only cycles between three… AND ONCE YOU SELECT A MYSTIC LIGHT PROFILE THERE’S NO WAY TO GO BACK TO THE HARDWARE DEFAULT ONE.

It depends on the card. Some are using the same coolers for their 4080 as their 4090, some are using smaller ones. You'll have to look at each card to figure it out.

Pretty much all of the board partner models are even bigger. The top end ASUS and Gigabyte cards make the founders card look small.

I was just thinking about getting Medieval Dynasty, nice.

I knew this game was gross for the sake of being gross, but that deformed person thing used as part of the door puzzle was on a different level.
I'm going to try this game, since it's on gamepass, but I have no idea how long I'll be able to play it.

Yeah looking at the specs the 12gb model is really a 4080 Lite version, less cores and bandwidth and draws less power. The real deal then is a $500 price increase over the 3080. Damn. Or I guess you could be charitable and pretend the 16gb is the TI version but ehhh.
The more recent rumors, that ended up being spot on with these specs, said that the 4080 12gb was originally intended to be the 4070 and that it uses the next chip down the stack rather than a more cut down version of the 4090/4080 chip.
These prices have me much more ok with the 3080 12gb I bought a month and a half ago. I'll wait until next year and hopefully 40 series deals will be available. That or maybe RDNA3 will actually be amazing.

The Gamers Nexus video goes into the reasoning a bit more. It seems like it's a mix of the reported issues with nvidia and personal reasons of the CEO.

They've also been making keyboards and mice and such recently, so they have areas they can grow in without entering new markets.
I'm pretty bummed though, I was hoping to get an EVGA 40 series. I have an MSI 3080 right now and it works great, but the experience with my previous 2 EVGA cards was just more user friendly.

I loved the first one so much, I wish this wasn't looking so far away.

I am very much in favor of the demo transferable to the full game thing that SquareEnix has started doing.

I'll probably pick this up later this year. I have to finish Tales of Arise and Yakuza Like a Dragon first though. I'm trying really hard to not buy games when I know I won't get to them anytime soon.

Recently I haven't been playing much, especially during the week. Some of that comes down to my play session length though. If I have less than 2 hours available I won't even bother. So, 2 hours minimum per session, often much longer.

I had been thinking I would wait until the 40 series releases and just skip this gen, but with multiple rumors from multiple sources saying that Nvidia will probably delay it until next year I decided to just go for it now.
I ordered an MSI 3080 12GB on Newegg for $800. It has a $30 rebate to go along with the free games. It should be here Wednesday. It's the first card I've bought since my 10180ti, which was RMA'd to a 2080. I'm excited, now I just have to figure out what I want to play first after I install it.

Finally an announcement from this "E3" season that gets me excited. The original is one of my favorite games. I put over a hundred hours in the original release, a whole bunch more in Dark Arisen and then put in over a hundred hours more in the PC version once it came out.

I thought the show was decent. What I got out of it was yet another confirmation that 2023 will be amazing and that 2022 is not. Xbox is releasing one new game this year.
I guess this is the year of actually catching up on my backlog, because there are only 2 or 3 games coming out the rest of the year that interest me.

Probably a PC mod to mod it out.
I was thinking that this will probably happen. I'll have to keep an eye out, because that would be the only way I would buy this.

10 minutes? It's kind of weird that they are advertising what amounts to a short YouTube video.

I really like Owlcat's RPGs, and I've recently become more interested in WH40k, so Rogue Trader has me very interested.
-
I might check out Chorus, it seemed pretty interesting.
-
I'm hoping that God of War 2 is still coming this year and we get a date and for Xbox to have anything at all for this year, hopefully something at least a little exciting.
-
I have the first one installed and might get to it this year. Spiders seems to be getting better with each release, so hopefully this one will be pretty good.
-
Seeing as these were the only games MS had coming out this year, what exactly is the point of them even having an "E3" show this year if everything they have there is going to release after the show they'll have next year?
If these two games are coming out first half of next year they'll probably push back anything they had originally planned for that time frame, meaning well over a year before anything else releases.
For 2022 it's actually true that Xbox has no games. Maybe Forza Motorsport will release, maybe, but I don't care about sim racers.
-
I wonder how much of the licensing money they are saving will have to be spent on extra advertising in order to make sure the huge casual playerbase will know that it's still the same game.

I've beaten 10 of those. I own almost all of them, but I'd only put maybe 3 on my backlog.
