That sucks. I'm debating if I should start over.  🤔

Start over? The fuck? Do you not keep multiple saves? I keep like 30 saves in case I need to go back 1-2 hours because I missed something big or because of possible glitches.

Also that scene is neat but definitely not worth starting over for.

I hope the game is good but I have no faith in Tetsuya Nomura and crew to capitalize on the crazy ass timey-wimey ending of Remake. I'm expecting a lot of "power of friendship" and convoluted timelines and multiple copies of the same characters so everyone gets to "live" in this version. I expect it's gonna be pretty bad but I hope I'm wrong. I'm thinking Kingdom Hearts levels of bullshit.

The trailer hints at "the reunion" being a convergence of timelines.

So I guess I reject this idea that video game stories are at their base level inferior to other mediums. As with everything it’s a spectrum and it depends on what you’re looking for.

I don't think games are incapable or are inherently an "inferior medium" I think its moreso that 95% of games view story as an afterthought and the 5% that dont probably don't spend nearly enough of their budget hiring good writers.

I think games are capable of far surpassing movies in both their storytelling & atmosphere building which is why it's always so disappointing to me that none really do.

I think games are incredibly underappreciated as an art form because their ability to immerse you and evoke a sense of euphoria I just wish the writing & direction would catch up. I do think we're getting much closer to that but I wish more of it was told organically & less through cutscenes.

I used to feel this way until fairly recently. Mass Effect, Dragon Age Origins, The Witcher 3, Last of Us 1 and 2, The recent Jedi games, Red Dead Redemption 2 and a few others all have great, well written stories. Hell I would even praise GTA's campaigns as being pretty good satires. Oh the Sony Spiderman games as well.

There are games I'd put on the fringe of being good but even something like the last of us (which is one of those games for me) is a very cliche and "been there done that" experience with a few interesting twists.

There's a reason why all the movie TV show adaptations are ass. Some of it certainly has to do with poor direction but most of it is poor source material. I love video games but never once has the story ever been a reason that keeps me playing.

the halo campaign, Forza, HiFi Rush, Deathloop

    🤣 Halo was a disaster. 🤣

Hifi rush isnt triple A, not even close. Great game though

Deathloop  launched on ps5 first because the game was already 90% finished when MS acquired Bethesda/Arkane and they already had a deal with Sony on place. It was also pretty disappointing coming off Dishonored.

Forza ok fine but pretty hard to ruin a copy/paste of the previous 6 games.

Psychonauts 2 I will grant you.

So you named like 1.5, 2 if we're being generous. Hardly the "many" that you claimed

I had no desire to restart, but this is literally unplayable for me.

If refuse to play my character like this and I want to keep playing. I have no idea if the bug will ever be fixed.

Like, I'm actually pretty fucking upset about it. I love my character.

You have just stumbled upon  the phenomenon known as "farmer's tan." In the southern US everyone looks like this (but 200lbs heavier).

My playthrough of the early Final Fantasy pixel remasters didn’t take much more than 10-12 hours. There have been some indie JRPGs that do a throwback thing and were that length. If you take the average old school JRPG and streamline it (remove random encounters/grinding, reduce the amount of time aimlessly searching for your next destination) a lot of them probably boil down to sub-20 hour experiences.

It’s not completely crazy to think this one might have been on the shorter side.

Those games are 30+ years old. And the good ones (4 & 6) are definitely way longer than 10 hours.
