I'm not saying it's an empty threat entirely, but as of today, they haven't done shit to these ships.

I mean its a pretty empty threat, like i could see them boarding an doing search and seizures or something claiming they found weapons or something but not actually firing on a civilian cargo ship for no reason, that would be pretty good justification for further international intervention, while further isolating themselves, especially when they know damn well the weapons are just crossing Ukraine's western land border.

So am I learning the wrong things from YouTube (probably a yes regardless)? I feel like what I should be learning is that if the only taxing purpose the PC will be used for is 1440p or 4K gaming, if you have a top tier graphics card you don’t also need a top tier CPU. The CPU needs to just be good enough to not be a bottleneck.

Because I’m at a certain point in benchmarks the performance differences nearly disappear for CPUs at 1440 and 4K. Especially with a good enough graphics card. So it appears if you go all in on a graphics card the cpu will start deliver diminishing returns above a certain spec (and price point), right?

or is there something in this equation I’m missing? Like other than to be ultra enthusiast to always have the best of best inside the case is there a reason for only gaming you would need a $2000 graphics card pairs with a $700-$800 CPU?

I mean if the time between upgrades is 4+ years for you, you're pretty future proofed till you're ready to do it again, or even longer.  I typically go higher end on CPUs, then upgrade GPUs a few times over like 6 years or so, then again i haven't bought the absolute top of the line GPU ever.

Anyone else find this show to be mixed incredibly low?

Normally I have the volume on my computer set to like 35 or so for most things, maybe up to 40 for video games. Sometimes up to 50 for movies. For this series, I have to set it to like 70.

I find just about everything anymore is insanely quiet having to crank the volume, until the music starts then its up to 11, I don't know what the sound guys are smoking when they're doing this stuff, but these are streaming shows people are watching in their unoptimized for sound homes with cheap equipment not theaters with state of the art sound systems.  None of this would be an issue if the music didn't just explode your eardrums when it starts up with your volume cranked to hear people talking.

I wonder if an asteroid strike might ever accidentally start a nuclear exchange?  Like, say an undetected asteroid hits somewhere in Siberia, and Russia mistakes it as an American nuclear strike and attempts to retaliate before anyone actually figures out it was not a nuclear explosion.

I suppose if it decapitated Russia wiping out the entirety of the upper echelons of their command and some subordinates who have no idea what happened but have launch capabilities and no way of figuring out what happened.

It’s more on the fact that if your aren’t a Russian ship in the water, they’re free to kill you. They don’t care what country you’re from because you might be working with Ukraine forces.

I feel this is more likely to be an empty threat, like they're not going to sink a Turkish ship, that would be truly insane.  If the US operated in the black sea we would absolutely continue to operate as normal.

  6. The United States: Temperature-related hospitalizations have been consistent across multiple medical centers in Arizona. An emergency room doctor with Valleywise Health, which has multiple locations across the Phoenix area, told CNN: "The hospital has not been this busy with overflow since a few peaks in the Covid pandemic." The city once again hit 110 degrees Monday for a record-tying 18th consecutive day.

Patients can experience body temperatures of 107 or higher, resulting in death or permanent brain damage. LoVecchio said it could take as little as five to 10 minutes to cause brain cell death at these high temperatures.

Valleywise Health Medical Center Communications Director Michael Murphy told CNN that in some extreme cases, they are placing patients in body bags packed with ice to help cool them off, adding that their burn center has been "slammed"  with patients experiencing contact burns.

As more than 90 million people swelter under heat advisories across the country, temperature-related hospitalizations have been consistent across multiple medical centers in Arizona.

This is without a power outtage.

The more I've thought about this, the more it makes me think it could be the thing that dooms Tesla. Right now Tesla has two "moats" that keep them as the number one electric car company in the country. The first and most important is their ability to actually produce EVs. That's also the thing that their far larger competitors will inevitably meet and exceed. The second and is their charging network, which also happens to be their biggest advantage over their rivals as of today. If you buy an EV right now, I feel like the refrain is often that you can buy what many would argue is a worse car, but it comes with far and away the best charging network. Next year if you can buy a Ford or a Volvo or a BMW or a Polestar or almost anything else and you can use the Supercharger network, the incentive to buy a Tesla is greatly reduced.

Maybe it's a very forward thinking move from Tesla and they can turn the Supercharger network into a huge profit center, but compared to selling cars that is hard to imagine. Assuming that supercharger revenue is in the "Services and Other" revenue, that's only 7% of their total in Q1 23, and I'd guess that Supercharger revenue is only a small fraction of that number.

It's like owning a chain gas stations that only sells gas, when most stations make the majority of their profit on the convenience store items, on top of the fact people can get their own gas at home for less, not a great business model.

On a Friday morning in April, Fox News talk host Jesse Watters walked onstage to a room stuffed with hundreds of insurance executives and agents. Watters was the featured speaker at a breakfast for the Big “I” Legislative Conference, the signature annual event hosted by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, where he was invited to participate in an interview with the organization’s retiring president...

Watters, who has a history of making offensive remarks on Fox News, made a crude comment questioning the gender of Vice President Kamala Harris, the people said. The gross attempt at humor prompted some laughs, but also outrage.

Some executives, many of whom planned to attend a diversity and inclusion luncheon later in the day, squirmed in their seats as a wave of awkwardness washed over the audience. Others walked out of the room and conveyed to the trade association that they were appalled at the behavior exhibited by Watters.

The chat between Watters and Rusbuldt, which continued on after the appalling remark, had immediate consequences. Rusbuldt, who was set to officially retire in August, apologized to those gathered at the diversity-focused luncheon later that day. But ultimately it was not enough to quell the outrage. He was later quietly sidelined from most duties at the insurance organization.

When asked for comment on Wednesday, a Fox News spokesperson told me that Watters had “no recollection” of the events.

“In fact, the unscripted Q&A he participated in was well received with executives thanking him profusely afterward, enthusiastically taking photos, and presenting him with an award,” the network spokesperson said. “He was told it was one of the best talks they’ve ever held and never received feedback from the organization or his speaking agent after the event.”

It was a perfect speech, some would say the most perfect of speeches!
