I did do that. For instance I was in a section where there were 3 turret guns and a big machine and I litteraly couldn't dodge all the attacks. Like it felt cheap in a way. On normal your health drops so fast.

There's usually a counter for everything. Machines can often be fried with lightning. It's also possible your materia setup isn't good?

I feel guilty sometimes doing it but I just have to accept I'm just not very good at games. I think normal in this game is too hard and unforgiving. But it's probably just me.

You have to stay active and keep all party members active too. That means making sure you're using their abilities whenever they can. If you really need someone's ability, like a heal, it's useful to switch to them to fight because when you're controlling a character and doing normal damage you get ATB faster.

There's also the effect that the enemy AI is more biased to attack the PC. So switching between your party members regularly is good because it pulls the AI away each time.

If you really want to optimize, you can pipeline things. Abilities usually take a short amount of time to go, so what you can do is do damage with one character until you're ready to do an ability. As soon as you activate it, then swap to another party member to get some hits in and advance their ATB faster. Rinse wash and repeat.

That said, it's fine to change the difficulty if you need to. You can also always keep it on normal for the regulars and drop down to easy for the bosses.

I didn't recall that. What didn't you like about it? Too linear?

It’s not actually a remake of the original. The story is different this time and Bacon isn’t a fan of those differences and reason for those differences.

The below isn’t really a spoiler and you should feel free to read it, but I’ll put it in spoilers anyway for those who haven’t played it but were big fans of the original and still haven’t played it yet.

    Spoiler

It’s actually more of a sequel with time and parallel world shenanigans resulting in the original events being changed.

This game is so freakin good. I just died twice on a boss and I was so close to beating it but my last party member died. I love how interactive it is with inventory control and using potions at the right time. The combat is so fun and challenging.

I might have to lower the difficulty to easy for this boss fight because that's two times in a row I spent time on it and died. So much fun and it's not frustrating.

I can't wait to play Rebirth with it's beautiful environments.

Glad you're enjoying it. I had original thought you would like it since you were initially psyched by FFXVI's combat until it fell thin since FFVIIR does a much better job of straddling action and strategy (and character customization). However, you fell off it pretty quick initially. What's changed your mind?

  5. It doesn't matter where a dish "originated." If your country is doing it right, there will be continual cultural exchange from many places that influences and changes dishes, rendering it impossible to give an exclusive "origin."

However, Italian cuisine is still awesome, whether "pizza" originated there or not. Last I visited Rome, I enjoyed everything I had. Same goes for French cuisine (though I have not visited France, yet.)

Europeans also do bread so much fucking better, in that it's actually easy to get quality bread.

Minority? The game sales for it were very lacking. Also the waste of $70 was for when you buy Rebirth.

    Huh?

Final Fantasy VII Remake sold over 3.5 million units worldwide within three days. This made it one of the biggest launches for a PlayStation 4 game and the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive, surpassing the launch sales of Marvel's Spider-Man (3.3 million; 2018) and God of War (3.1 million; 2018). By August 2020, that figure had increased to over 5 million on PS4.By September 2023, the game had shipped and digitally sold over 7 million units worldwide.

I warned you above. As a graphics whore that was the first thing I checked.

Please don't yell at me guys. Does part 2 take place before part 1? I'm new to all of this. I played a few hours of part 1.

I love how Cloud always ignores the ladies even when his mom asks about them. He is officially asexual.

As others said, it's a direct continuation of the first part. The demo is just covering a part that's also in the original FF7 where Cloud is retelling extremely important events of the past that will make you better understand Sephiroth -- the villain of the story. And the remake is apparently going to spend more time building up Sephiroth than the OG did.

Since you have three weeks, you should at a minimum watch the cutscenes from part one or you're going to be very lost.

FWIW, the original game is highly suggestive that Cloud gets some action later in the game. And there is a reason he's kind of out of sorts right now. Not sure how they're going to handle that in the remake, but it might not be until part 3.

  8. I still have tons more game left, so my mind might change, but my feeling is this is a very solid update that brings a lot of the polish of P5 to it. But there are definitely some limitations in design where P5 clearly advanced. The dungeons in P5, of course, were much better. But beyond that, P5 did a much better job getting you invested in each part because every part had a new villain that they built up tied directly to one of the character's plight. It made everything much more meaningful. And it progressively scaled to crazy heights, but took its time getting there. In P3, you're just kind of going through the dungeon cause, well, the shadows seem like a problem. But there is no hook for each segment.

P5 also just has much better music. I'm enjoying what's in P3R, but it's more repetitive and just doesn't slap as hard.

All I pointed out was that they did make her more manly looking in Forbidden West. I played Zero Dawn and West back to back and that was something that jumped out to me.

I have no issue with it and she is still pretty fir a videogame character.

The comment wasn't a criticism of you. It was a general comment on her appearance :)

How's the combat of Persona 3? I love the storyline and social part of Persona 4, but the dungeons and combat are such a drag compared to Persona 5.

I'm still very early (will play more today), but so far I'm much more optimistic. I tried to play 4 when it released on PC and while everything outside the dungeons was great, I also just couldn't take how boring the dungeons were compared to the excellent dungeons in 5.

3 appears to be going the route of one long random dungeon you keep traversing (going up higher and higher) and it's not going to be in 5's ballpark, but it's still much more visually exciting than the extremely boring and fogged corridors of 4. It feels closer to mementos in 5 than the corridors of 4.

The combat itself is also good. Feels more like 5 and all the flair they've added to it makes it feel much closer to 5. 5 is still a bit more visually interesting, but this is a commendable update.
