Lol yea, Taylor has not had any life struggles that are even worth mentioning. She was born 45 minutes away from me, moved to Nashville, and immediately became a global superstar at 18. But, not all music needs to come that area @GeneticBlueprint pointed out. I just think most of her music is really catchy and fun. Nothing to write home about obviously. Sge seems like a decent person, too.

Wasn't her dad like a bank exec or something too?

God her music is so mediocre.

Yup, I have nothing against her or her fans being fans, but I just don't understand the appeal. The real measure will be if people still comment on her in 40 years.

I actually give her quite a bit of credit for not sounding like her songs were written in a board room. But they do sound like songs written by somebody who never had to wonder where the money for rent was coming from. Never loved somebody where it wasn’t reciprocated. Never thinks about big issues and how they affect the individual. I think lots, most even, of great art is born of struggle and honestly her music sounds like it was written by an affluent white girl who never struggled a day in her life. Maybe she has had those experiences I don’t know. But I don’t hear it in her songs that I’ve heard.

But also, not everything needs to be great art.

  3. Okay so I was on mobile and lots of my parentheticals and commentary got lost in my reformatting and I didn’t notice. Bah humbug. I had gone into a bit more detail about what I think some of the lines mean and represent. Most of which are now missing lol.

I couldn't agree more. I actually get quite angry at the cacophony of these banal, emotionally meaningless, commercially-driven aural abominations that we're subjected to since Halloween ended.

Any specific reason you tear up for drummer boy? It's not one of my favorites.

Wasn’t directed at me sorry but it’s the idea of never being able to do enough to repay god. But doing what you can where you can and that still being enough for him because of his divine love and mercy

    Shall I play for you

    Mary nodded

The ox and lamb kept time

I played my best for Him
    ….

    Then He smiled at me

    Me and my drum.

I love Christmas music. Especially the old ones like Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby. Good stuff.

On the scale of Christmas music age these are toddlers.

It sounds intriguing enough - I'm just confused why they didn't adapt Halo.

Same. I mean, on one hand I don't think any adaption needs to adhere strictly to its source material. On the other hand it was just vaguely Halo enough to be called Halo so that was kind of disheartening.

The show features gratuitous shots of John-117's ass - what more could you possibly want?!?

Forget a face reveal. Take off those pants!

So is it a good show when divested from Halo? The filmmaking looks well done but as a fellow Halo fan I kind of want to see Halo adapted. This isn't that from the sound of it.

Looks slick. Actors for the most part are not good. I'll always like Pablo though and I like him here. The script/writing is centered around a generic magic object thingy that I assume will lead them to Halo. As a whole it definitely feels better and more polished than a generic network sci-fi show for sure. But I can see why Showtime didn't want this to be a Showtime thing too.

I haven't checked it out yet but is it true it's not really an adaptation of Halo but more like generic space opera/sci-fi? That it's an alternate universe Halo?

Yes. Remember in Halo 3 how Master Chief would get those fever dreams of Cortana's tortured state? And how irritating that was? It was like That: The Series. Lots of Master Chief fever dreams and visions. Still no appearances or mention (that I remember) of the game/show's namesake by the time I stopped watching which was over halfway through the season. There was some cool fight scenes and stuff though.

I really don't have anything to say about the technical/performance aspects of this vehicle, but its aesthetics are just unappealing on every possible level to me.

If I'm gonna get a pickup truck, I really do want it to actually look like a pickup truck.

Seriously can't comprehend why anybody would buy one of these instead of an F-150 Lightning

Most people who buy full-size trucks do not use them for their intended purpose.  I'm glad I traded in my F-150 for a maverick.  It does everything I need it to (even the occasional truck-specific task) while getting good mileage and not being a burden to park.

I'd happily buy a plug-in hybrid truck or even a fully electric truck if they made one that was the size of the Maverick.  Ram is coming out with a plug-in hybrid 1500, but that'a full size, and I don't want or need anything that big.

Don't get me wrong I see plenty of chodes driving F-150s that they don't use for truck things but most of the people paying the premium for an F-250 or higher (or similarly classed truck) are actually using them for their intended purpose because of that premium.

Sure. But also, like, hauling construction equipment and materials, towing, etc.
