  1. One time after I turned my Pro off I went to dust the tv stand and noticed how warm the glass shelf was where the Pro was sitting.  I bought these cheap rubber feet on amazon and the glass stays much cooler now.  I have no idea if the Pro is actually running any cooler, but I figure if more air flow is traveling under the case it has to be better than nothing.

You wouldn't even know they are under the PS4 which is nice:

  2. To clarify..... my wife's Barbie. She is a Divergent fan and has the two main characters official "Barbie" doll. This morning she noticed inside the box this "thing" has appeared.

It looks like a turd wrapped in a spider web. My wife said get that out of there! I said the whole box needs incinerated. Googling "turd web" isn't helping. What say you D1P?

  3. I'm fortunate to have 2 kids that for the most part, have always been very well behaved. My daughter will be 5 in a few months and for whatever reason is just now starting to try and push the limits. Its never come to spanking and never will. My wife said she would "get the belt" if she was really bad as a kid. She admits it may have instilled some type of fear in her at the time, but looking back it never stopped her from doing the bad things to begin with. It was more of a "oh shit i messed up, my dad is going to come after me now".

@CastlevaniaNut18  just curious, do you have much of a relationship with your mom now? It sounds like you had it pretty rough at times. Just wondering if you are on good terms now or if you cut ties completely, etc....

  4. Thanks everybody. I tried to keep it as cheap as possible. Cardboard boxes, black/gray spray paint, the prison bars were made from a $15 garden hose on Amazon that had horrible reviews lol. Both of the lights are USB powered, powered by a 26800mAh portable battery. The Batman logos were just printed out on paper and painted them by hand before gluing them on. Hardest part was just finding any time to work on it.

  5. I said in an earlier thread how I was going to make a Batman themed truck with our wagon. It turned into a "prison transport" truck to haul around the Joker. Led lights light up the underside, and a backlight shines inside the prison with uv reactive body paint painted inside. As well as some green and red on my daughter to make her glow.

I think the lazy stereotype is a thing of the past (like pre-1950s). The stereotype today is of somebody who works day and night for little to no money. That's my perception at least.

I think the lazy stereotype has been moved to describe millennials. I hear a ton of older people say that line all the time.

Thats the problem that people have , the voice alone is very stereotypical and pretty racist.

I believe you, it's just been way too long for me to remember much of Apu other than "thank you come again!".

You guys probably won't believe me when I tell you about the guy who works at the gas station right by my house. He's probably mid 30's. He's a fun, energetic, middle eastern looking/sounding guy. When you go in the store sometimes he will greet you. If not, he will when you get to the counter. The first sentence out of his mouth is always:  "America!..... America is beautiful my friend!".  Sometimes that will be it. Other times he might go on with a few more lines about "this great country". He has been there at least 4 or 5 years and he says it to me every time as well as every other customer. It's always made me think of Apu I guess because it's like my local gas station convenience store with a clerk that has a catchphrase.

Wow, a lot of ignorant posts (and some good ones!) in this thread.

Apu is offensive, and comparing him to other "stereotypes" on the show is not analagous because many of the other stereotypes are not a minority and the bigger issue everyone seems to be ignoring isn't that there aren't real life Indian Americans who have thick accents, it's that Apu is voiced by a white guy doing an aggressive Indian-accented English.

This is the equivalent of a white dude putting on black face. I would have had no problem if they just replaced Azaria with an Indian American voice actor, and then phase out the accent. It's strange to me that people think the issue is that the Simpsons have a stereotyped minority character rather than the fact it's a white guy voicing him.

I don't think a persons skin color should matter when it comes to the character they are playing. They are playing a character. It's only racist if they are being racist. The black character Cleveland from Family Guy is voiced by a white guy. Dave Chappelle does a really good white guy voice in some of his skits. It shouldn't be looked down upon if a white kid wants to dress up like Miguel from Coco and have an accent to go along with it.  Robert Downey Jr went full black in Tropic Thunder and got an Oscar nomination for it. Granted some of these examples are probably 10 years old now.

  9. I haven't watched The Simpsons for quite some time now so my opinion is probably worthless. Just dropping the character all together seems like a quick and lazy end to such a well recognized TV character. They could just have him retire from the Kwik-E-Mart and make him a "normal" person. But I guess he wouldn't serve much of a purpose to the show then.
