That argument was shot down a long time ago. Speech/debate doesn't even allow non-response to a subpoena and the VP isn't engaging in deliberations by performing ceremonial duties.

The line prosecutors were faced with going to trial with a witness who fabricated minor sex trafficking charges against someone else and a victim who wasn't testifying. It sucks when the government can't prove an obvious case but looking for that result to beat your own personal probably hobby horse is gross.

No it wasn't, it's a common misconception here too and one I'm all too eager to correct. The national reporters in this country resist naming white supremacy where they see it because they have too many racist relatives they rely on to not revoke their trust funds.
