“When someone has an infection, I’m used to seeing the normal colors you’d associate with it: greens and yellows. The coronavirus patients with ARDS have been having a lot of secretions that are actually pink because they’re filled with blood cells that are leaking into their airways. They are essentially drowning in their own blood and fluids because their lungs are so full. So we’re constantly having to suction out the secretions every time we go into their rooms.”

    Sounds like absolute hell. :(

I have to vent a little. I work in a hospital and we still have little to no direction of what is happening. People are recklessly using PPE. No clear policy in place of when you should and shouldn’t use it. STILL I have fucking nurses and therapists telling me they think it’s all overblown and quote flu statistics.

They are completely oblivious to the incoming shit storm we are about to receive. It is infuriating and makes the situation fell all the more helpless.

    FUCK

Sorry you're going through that, I'm familiar with that feeling (minus nurses and therapists blowing it off and quoting flu statistics). We've always had a low threshold for covid ICU admissions, and we’re just about to find out final cohorting and surge plans. Still not sure if we have a staffing plan other than a voluntary labor pool.

I hope for your sanity and the patients’ sake things start to get better.

This isn’t the first virus that originated from China’s animal food markets. They haven’t tried hard enough to shut that shit down.

Seems like some wildlife farms have already been shut down. Hopefully this isn't just small talk (but who am I kidding!).

Somewhat of the same experience at my hospital. The attending has to run all suspected patients through the incident command center, who then discusses it with the county, then we get approval for the patient's identification number a few hours later. Results have come back within 24 hours. Great news though (/s): county can only review during business hours, otherwise you gotta wait. Oh, and we send the sample to the county also so gotta wait all weekend if the sample is sent on a Friday.

To be fair, I don't know the exact details and comments that occur from the attending on, but I know there's frustration. The non-cynical side of me thinks there's some form of resource preservation going around. Based on CDC's current guidelines, they are stating covid patients require to be cared for in a negative-pressure room (which also requires the N95 masks). But knowing the incompetence of this administration, it's more likely that there is no clearly disseminated plan from the government.

I mean totally controlled amirite?  CA is one of the only states that is able to effectively test for the virus btw.

I was still at the bedside in a medical icu during the ebola outbreak a few years back. Screening and preparing for Covid almost seems like an afterthought (at least from what I'm noticing) compared to what we did for ebola.

    Edit: I'm in California.

Bunch of us were on PS4 but are migrating to pc after today. A few are remain on PS4 so we are going to play back an forth between the 2.

Decided to hop on the PC game. M&K is definitely something else.

Anybody else on the PC, feel free to add me (same as on PS4, emalider). Being the only one on my friends/clan list does not feel goodman.

    E: New to Battle.net. It's emalider#1157 if that makes a difference.

Many states will consider it double homicide if a pregnant woman is murdered.  Famously, Scott Peterson is on death row in California for not only killing his wife, but also the fetus inside of her.

I'm in the same camp as @Spawn_of_Apathy that anything less than viable is a parasite. Viability can occur around weeks 24 - 25. Just did a quick search and it looks like Laci Peterson was at least seven months pregnant, which explains the double homicide.
