Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon out on the same day.  I can't imagine a better day for reducing politicization and divisiveness in media.

I think a majority of Don Lemon's popularity and influence comes from right-wing media saying he's popular and has influence. I don't think most Democrats care about him, and I don't think the average voter even knows who he is, in the same way they know who Tucker Carlson is.

Fox wasn't required to do an on air apology as part of the settlement so I doubt that was it. They probably figured he was too toxic to have around anymore since he just cost the company almost a BILLION dollars. And remember there's ANOTHER lawsuit... the Smartmatic lawsuit and I'm sure Carlson figures largely into that one as well.

The reason I have a hard time believing it was due to the Dominion, is Hannity, Ingraham, and Bartiromo are in those texts just as much and saying similar things, and we haven't seen any consequences for them (yet?).

Tucker Carlson's departure from Fox News was not voluntary, sources have confirmed to Mediaite.

It's pure speculation, but I would bet he was asked to issue an on-air apology or have less editorial control going forward with his segments, he said no to both, and they said see you later boy.

It expands an existing ban. Experts say it imperils free speech and could affect curricula in English, history and other classes.

The board voted Wednesday to adopt a new rule that says Florida teachers in grades 4 through 12 ″shall not intentionally provide classroom instruction … on sexual orientation or gender identity” unless this instruction is required by state academic standards — it is not — or the lessons form “part of a reproductive health course” from which a student’s parent can opt out their child.

Reproductive health lessons are unlikely to mention sexual orientation or gender identity, Florida Chancellor for K-12 Public Schools Paul Burns said at the meeting Wednesday, given that “abstinence is the required expectation of what we teach in our schools” when it comes to health classes.

I think social media and the success of Trump has taught them they need not be discreet with their corruption anymore… once you “cross lines” everywhere it just becomes normalized….   its like fighting a battle with strict Rules of Engagement while the other side can plunder and murder indiscriminately..   they will not get what they deserve..

Yep. "Scandals" are only scandals because they are unexpected and outside the bounds of normal decorum. If you do it all the time, it's not a scandal, it's just behavior.

Took my boys to see the Mario movie. I think it’s as good as a Mario movie can be. There’s not really any story or “why” for anything being the way it is in the video game. And there’s not in the movie either. Which I think is a good choice. Nobody wants to know how the mushrooms in the mushroom kingdom work. They just want to see them work. (Mida mushroom-chlorians). Anyways, the best part of watching the movie was watching my boys enjoy it and laugh and point out stuff from the games they recognize. But it’s really not a good movie narratively at all. No surprise there. Just lots of fan service which I guess is all people who are excited about this movie (I.e. kids) want.

I took my son to see Mario today, and would agree with 100% of what you said.

Everytime there is a shooting, the media always do an investigation into what they can find out about the shooter for their stories.  Based on what the police/others tell them, they will report it.  They did nothing different here.

I think the media’s search and desire for a motive is one of the biggest issues we have when covering mass shootings in this country.

I have no issue with reporting a motive once it’s established, but the wall-to-wall coverage with analysts and pundits trying to ascertain a motive is just irrelevant.

That time would be much better spent interviewing families or victims, showing photos of them, sharing stories.
