Yeah, he's definitely raising suspicions with Vic every time he brings it up which does throw her off but I think she goes: "we do shady shit all the time, this must be more of that" though she definitely is weirded out with why suddenly she needs to rush things. And yeah I didn't take it as a deep criticism or anything, indeed the pharma stuff is way off throughout the show. :p

Also as we have seen with many people in power, a life bereft of legal consequence leads to many stupid actions.

You know, he lies so much I wonder if he actually never intended to run for Congress. Like in order to keep the lies going, he had to keep doing things to maintain the illusion. It started off him trying to skip on a restaurant bill, and led to him having to dress in drag, and eventually led to him having to pretend to be running for Congress, where he unexpectedly won, and now he's stuck pretending to be one.

A church spokesperson tells VICE News that Ballard “betrayed his friendship” with a powerful leader, who “never authorized his name, or the name of the Church, to be used for Tim’s personal or financial interests.”

    Necrobumping this old post.

    lol

    lmao

Long story short: Tim Ballard happens to share a last name but no familial relation with the like 4th or 5th highest guy in the Mormon church. They were in contact for a while. Then Ballard went and did that thing that he always does where he lies about literally everything and grifts people to death.

  4. Oh and just to chime in with the whole there will just be more kids in the foster care system Crispy said casually, if you only knew how many kids with severe medical needs we have been asked to temporarily place with us.  We opened our home to 2 children in the last 5 years and the current child demands all of our time and energy, and unfortunately makes us have to turn down most other cases.  The last child we took in for a weekend was a girl who was malnourished and abused and it nearly broke my wife.  That's even only a fraction of the kids that can't find placement.  Tell me when you get to see a young black man break down in front of you asking why he couldn't get a home because a significant portion of people going into foster care are doing it to land a white infant/toddler and won't take teens or poc.

On a more positive note we should be through the adoption process for Nori sometime in October.  I will be sure to include a picture once we are her legal parents.

So they're diverting that money into other pregnancy resource centers and women crisis shelters, right? ...  Right?

I've seen some truly pregnancy awful resource centers.  I've also volunteered at some truly amazing ones.  But in either case, those resources are relied upon by women and families all stripes, who would consider, wouldn't consider, and have had an abortion.  I remember once loading two boxes of pots and pans and a new bed for someone who was forced to move out from her ex, no questions asked.

The Democratic response just shouldn't be to take away local resources for mothers.  Prioritize the things that improve the situation for struggling families.  Universal Pre-K.  Paid Maternity leave.  And yes, local resource centers.  Vet them if needed.  Create more run by the state.  Post-Roe, there's no hiding behind abortion politics to address the need.

I think this is mostly geared towards the church affiliated baby buying centers and not actual places that provide contraceptives, sex education, OBGYN services, and std testing.

I agree there are hypocrites on both sides, but I'm sure many on the left would accept banning Bernie from office due to his age if it meant installing age limits all around. I certainly would. We only rely on Bernie because he's an outlier in a stagnant morass, if said stagnant morass is fixed, the need for Bernie theoretically goes away. So I think hypocrisy on both sides doesn't hurt the argument at all for age limits to be instituted. We put in age limits, I'm sure we can get more Bernie clones into office, not less.

Exactly, the oldest the Bernie clones could possibly be is around 30.  Age restrictions would not hurt the Bernie clones.
