Authorities found the explosive triacetone triperoxide, which is what terrorist organizations use to make “Mother of Satan” bombs, in a home in Lake Helen, deputies said. The same material was used in the 2005 London bombings. The discovery caused enough concern for the FBI and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to respond to the home. Jared E. Coburn, 37, is facing a charge of manufacturing an explosive device. Coburn told Lake Helen police that he was using the materials to make homemade fireworks. “Everybody’s here because everybody understands how volatile this stuff is,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in a press release. The bomb squad is detonating the material underground in a nearby field, according to deputies.
