To fill Alcee Hasting's seat (guy has a shady past, recently died), a primary was held yesterday and the general election will be in January. A couple dozen votes separate the two:

Special primary was too close to call Tuesday, with razor thin margin between Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormack.

Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick ran against Hastings a couple times. I actually convinced someone here in 2018 when she ran against Hastings in a primary to vote for Cherfilus-McCormick. Here's the kicker:

It's going to recount though, so we won't know until that's finished.

In Manatee County, which has a R-D advantage of around 120k-80k, the referendum to keep the property tax which has increased education money and teacher pay easily passes ~69-31 after winning slightly in 2018.

With 69-percent of the vote, the tax referendum for Manatee County Schools has been renewed.

And St. Pete elects its first black mayor.

Voters cast ballots for mayor and several City Council races, and weighed in on proposed changes to the city charter.
