@stepee since Biggie declined your offer, you can use the XSEX money to buy me this:

    I have most of those.

  2. My amputated stump incision has completely healed, but doesn’t look as good as it did before I broke it open. There’s a lot of scarring, and the incision area is sensitive since it’s all scar tissue. I get an uncomfortable tingling sensation in my stump especially the incision area a lot of the time, and sometimes pain (primarily phantom pain) as well but thankfully not too often. I was supposed to get my prosthetic leg/foot last month, but my health insurance denied paying for it. My doctor said that she was going to find out why, and work on getting them to approve paying for it.

  3. I started playing Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, and it’s a good third person survival horror game inspired by Resident Evil. The core gameplay mechanics are solid, and the game in general is pretty scary with a claustrophobic, dark and unsettling atmosphere.

No way, a cadre of like 12 people who really liked Saints Row 2 convinced them that somehow that's the fucking one we all wanted to play, not the dramatically more successful SR3.

Yeah I NEVER understood the love for Saints Row 2. It was good but SR3 was far better.

I like Saints Row 2 more than 3.   Saints Row 4 is fun, but feels more like a side game than a main entry. Agents of Mayhem is pretty bad, and the latest Saints Row reboot is somewhat disappointing despite being kind of fun from a gameplay perspective. The story and characters are pretty meh IMO.

I don’t really feel sorry for Volition because they kind of shit on their fans during the development of the Saints Row reboot. As much as they claim to care about their fans, they didn’t really seem to at that time. And they released the game in a somewhat unfinished state full of bugs and glitches which hindered my overall enjoyment of it. After Saints Row: The Third they just weren’t the same top tier developer that they once were, and I have a feeling that any further releases from them wouldn’t have been that good.

I downloaded it last night as it’s on PS+ - to then see it’s a 30 hour game. For some reason I was expecting something in the 10-12 hour range…

It’s a turn-based RPG inspired by classic JRPGs, so I’m not really sure why you were expecting it to be 10-12 hours since RPGs in general are known to be long. It’s rare to find any RPG that’s less than 15 hours, and that’s considered somewhat short for the genre.

They got Mitsuda to do the soundtrack, this game is aimed at older people 100%

The music is really good and I realize that the game is a throwback style pixel art RPG aimed at fans of classic JRPGs (which I am), but the cute and colorful aesthetic, silly humor and overall friendship theme make it kind of feel like it’s aimed at a younger audience. It’s rated Everyone 10+ after all.

  7. I’ve been playing Sea of Stars, and enjoying it for the most part. It’s a somewhat charming retro style pixel art turn-based RPG with a cute cast of characters, and colorful graphics. However, only a few hours in I’m already finding it to be a little harder than I was expecting it to be. During combat you have to time a button press exactly at the right moment of an attack to deal more damage to an enemy, or to block when an enemy attacks you. It seems more forgivable for attacks than blocks, because so many times I think that I timed the button press at the right moment just to still get hit and take full damage without blocking. It’s been pretty frustrating, especially since a lot of enemies have attacks that you can’t really judge the exact moment that they’re going to hit you. There should be a slightly larger window of opportunity to block enemy attacks than there is, because you have to be too precise in your timing to block IMO. And some enemies and especially bosses take a lot of hits to defeat, and deal a lot of damage when they hit you which I wasn’t expecting somewhat early in the game. But I really like the combat as there’s cool special attacks and magic spells along with team combo attacks. The story and characters have been decent so far, but everything (except for the difficulty) seems like it’s somewhat aimed at a younger audience.

@Phaseknox @stepee This is great news for you guys. I'm too busy with games to play at the moment but if you get a chance to try this out please post impressions.

It came out months ago. We both played it and the new section of the city is cool but there are no new missions or anything tied to it, just a few mini games now in that area. I did those and that was it. The shooting is indeed better and feels good now.

Yeah, I tried getting into it again after that update but it was too soon for a replay for me. However, it’s definitely been improved since launch and I look forward to playing through it again at some point.

  9. I’ve been playing Need For Speed Heat, and it’s actually quite good. It’s the best NFS game in years. It reminds me a lot of Most Wanted (2005) which is my favorite NFS game. It’s open world taking place in a fictional city similar to Miami Florida. You choose a character, and can customize their hair and clothes. They’re featured in the story scenes, and are voiced. The story so far has been the usual rookie racer trying to move up in the ranks of racing. It’s been good enough to give an incentive to the racing.

The unique aspect of the game is that during the day you do circuit races that earn you money, and during the night you do illegal street races that earn you rep. You can switch between day and night whenever you like.

Cars and upgrade parts for them are expensive, so you kind of have to grind races to earn money to buy new cars and upgrades for them. You earn rep to progress in the story since you need to reach a certain amount of rep to unlock the next story event. I really like the progression in the game, it along with other aspects make this the closest to the racing RPG that I’ve been wanting.

Doesn't Celeste have a no fail easy mode?

I don’t know, but being too easy isn’t fun either. I like to be reasonably challenged in games, just not to the point of frustration.

Even better it has a whole suite of adjustable difficulty accessibility options so you can tune it a bit to your liking without making it a cake walk.

I think I only had to use them maybe once with the extra jump at one part but I always liked knowing they were there as a fallback. But yeah you can definitely make it a lot easier while having it still feel like a fun to play platformer (or a total cake walk if that’s what you want)

I didn’t know that, perhaps I’ll play it again at some point now. However, I admit that I don’t really like pure platformers without anything else that you do in them such as fighting enemies and/or solving puzzles. So I’m not sure if I will like Celeste even if it’s less challenging.

I'm starting up Uncharted: The Lost Legacy tonight.

Have you played it before? It’s one of my favorite Uncharted games.

My patience for platformers is much higher than say, a Souls game. I can do some hard stuff like Celeste and Super Meat Boy. The level design here just requires so much skill, use of the entire move set, memorization of the room and enemy patterns, perfect timing, and just pure lightning fast reflex speed, that it kind of sucks the joy out of the entire thing.

I gave Celeste a shot since I heard such great things about it, but NOPE!!!! I couldn’t handle its difficulty. And this is even more challenging than Celeste? No thanks. I know that some people like punishing difficulties in games, but I don’t which is why I gave up on Soulslikes. I play games to be entertained and have fun, neither of which are happening when I want to throw my controller through my TV in a fit of RAGE!!!!
