A GOP lawmaker's pitch to strip judges of their ability to block abortion bans isn't going anywhere, House Speaker Jason Stephens said.

I wonder how much math they had to do before figuring the political loss would be too large to do something like this even if they knew it wouldn't succeed.

My wife works for a construction company and has just been sent a rider to an existing contract that makes them promise not to boycott Israel or use any other companies that are participating in a boycott of Israel or they will lose the contract. This is from a large local general contractor construction company for a job for a community college in Missouri. Good times.

What are common Israeli goods an American could boycott?

    Other than genocide?

People are way too fucking precious about their vote. The vote is a statement of preference of one candidate over the other, not a statement of support of every single policy position they hold.

You can vote for a less than ideal candidate one day and use the other 364 days a year to press and advocate on those positions you have an issue with.

No, one must love it or leave it.

For me, the resume "requirement" and the specific locations involved points towards this being more than a simple prostitution ring.

I'm really getting the sense that there's a foreign intelligence service aspect to this.

Someone had to be subsidizing this.

Exactly: a bunch of 80 year olds hoping it’s their grandchild calling and has Fox News blaring in the background.

I was a loan processor back when Obama was running for re-election....always fox news..always loud AF. If I had to talk to the same person more than once and I knew they had to bring up Obama (because he was why I needed a paystub or bank statement...obviously)  I'd call them at the end of my day and tell them I was getting ready to meet my family at church but wanted to call them before I left to try and get them off the phone ASAP.

Tonight is reinforcing the point that the GOP has a big fucking problem thanks to making it impossible to win a GOP primary without going all-in on banning abortion and demonizing trans people.

Michigan is a great example. They got blown out and then make the crazy election denying lady that tried to kill her family head of the party. It's amazing watching the infighting (and actual fighting) at state Republican meetings.

Yes, they can impose significant legislative measures, but they cannot actually outlaw abortion.

And those legislative measures would be litigated through the Ohio court system to determine whether they constitute a de-facto ban on abortion in the same way that measures were litigated through the Federal courts system when Roe was in effect.

Things like location of clinics? Who can preform one? Actions needed before one takes place?

I feel like they will try and make it like voting. One place open for 8 hours a year and you can't have someone drive you there.
