I've been saying it since it started happening, but as soon as we separated families at the border, it became a permanent stain worse than putting Japanese-Americans into internment camps during WWII. America should never be able to live this down, and that's presuming we actually fix the problem once we get a new president.

I get an inner sense that we're not going to fix it because we're approaching a sense that most of our leaders are becoming unfeeling cogs that really don't care, unless it furthers a personal, political agenda.

We've moved so far away from the original belief that Americans were the sort of people who would sacrifice themselves to make sure people weren't suffering anywhere. Now, we're no different than any other awful country out there that is only out for its own posterity. So, when people start to make the whole "but Americans are good people" sort of rhetoric, I shake my head and long for a day when America Was Great, not the imaginative era of Make America Great Again, which means taking America to a place that looks a lot like 1933 Europe.

  2. So, I've finally gotten to a point where I can stream regularly, and honestly, that learning curve in the beginning was a little annoying. But seems to be working now. Started out by just steaming a game I was playing (Shroud of the Avatar) and then I've slowly been working on the dedicated stream that I intend to be doing.

  3. I recently started streaming on Twitch. This isn't an advertisement for my stream. It's a question about something that's driving me crazy.

I use streamlabs (think that's the name), and I went through the process step by step (following a really useful twitch tutorial), but for some reason, I can't stream without first receiving an error (that has almost no information of use) and then I have to press "go live anyway" and then I can go live. I just can't seem to update anything because everything gives me an error. And I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

If anyone does streaming and has an extra moment, I don't know if it's possible to see it from the surface, but my account is sarbonn, and it's just really frustrating.

It's not like I'm trying to be Ninja. It's a stupid little stream where I learn a new skill and kind of go through the process of doing it on the stream. Mainly doing this to study a new area of communication that my discipline tends to avoid until it's already outdated.

But for real though, he's going to defy this court order and there won't be consequences.

The only way to enforce it is for those offended to go to Twitter because Trump has zero intention to honor ANYTHING said by a court. He's already said a few times already how the Supreme Court is "wrong" so he doesn't plan to follow their directives (like their ruling on the census, for one of several).

This really does seem like a stupid as hell ruling:

What I don't get is their complete misunderstanding of what female empowerment is. They literally define female empowerment as how much it affects the customer (I.e., the men) when female empowerment SHOULD be about how much the women feel empowered without ever once taking into consideration anyone BUT the woman in question. It's like saying a woman doesn't have an orgasm unless the man was first pleasured, which, I guess, is how many of them think regardless.

As for the situation, I'd probably never shop there because I would imagine the prices would be jacked up just so guys could see beautiful women in swimsuits serving coffee (my assumption), and I'd probably only be wanting the coffee and am adult enough to not care that women are in swimsuits instead of other types of clothing. I'd probably end up being a part of "the market dictates the results" customer base because I'd avoid the establishment. But that's kind of how the market should work in the first place. But if the city feels that women are threatening men's dicks by floating this establishment (yeah, I see what I accidentally did there), then so be it.

It doesn’t say what the mother did except that she instigated and continued the fight. It’s entirely possible this was a fist fight until the one woman pulled out a gun. But because her fetus died, she’s being charged with murder. I think that’s a clear example of over charging.

Yeah, but it's no different in circumstances where some guy steals a pen from a bank, ,runs before a cop shows up, the cop pulls his gun and accidentally shoots another cop. The guy who stole the pen will most likely be charged with murder. Our justice system is so, um, justice-like.

  7. I was working for Maxis when we were bought by EA and told there would be no direct control. For a year, it was fine. Then they forced us to move over to Redwood City instead of where Maxis was located. I worked on The Sims for about a year before I decided I really didn't want to be part of EA any longer. It was a really toxic place to work. I know they don't want people to think that, but yes, it was. I remember at one point being told that because Lucy Lawless was going to be on property (for Xena, the game), we were required to (they passed around a list of things you weren't allowed to do and told me under no circumstance was I supposed to address her or even look her in the eye). And then they came through and asked if I would be willing to walk her through the compound and introduce her to the game (the senior producer was actually not going to be able to make it...she had said before she didn't want to deal with him again). So, I could have made a bunch of people feel awkward by not talking to her or looking her in the eye while I was basically the only one supposed to be talking to her, but I chose not to do so.

The second judge that the appeals court blasted wasn’t much better. I understand people holding different opinions on issues like the form of government, the form of the economy, even issues like capital punishment...but I flat out don’t get how people can hold these views on sex crimes unless they themselves are sexual predators.

To me, it's very easy to understand. The judge who thinks that way doesn't think that way because he sees justice differently. He sees women differently. All wokeness aside, a judge who thinks this way thinks women are inferior and is NEVER going to change how he thinks. I seriously doubt it had anything to do with money, race or anything else other than he sees women as inferior. He would probably come straight out and say that to convict this boy is wrong because you're ruining this boy's life (that's gender, not wealth that's being considered). In some cases, I can see it being class or wealth, but in so many of these cases, I don't think I'm anywhere near wrong.

  9. Not to take away from a lot of great posts that have come before this one, but something came to mind today as I was playing Fallout 4 yesterday. ALL of the music in that game came from around the 1950s, which has absolutely no influence from the Beatles whatsoever. And it's all good music, which kind of  makes me wonder if that would be the kind of world we'd experience (musically) without the Beatles. It would be a kind of rock music with a huge big band type of sound, which I could so see continuing to evolve over time so that we'd probably see guitars and all that evolve, but probably see a lot more Elvis-style bands with huge orchestras involved as well.

And it would all be contingent on a possibility that someone or some group might come along that could seriously move entire nations and genres at any time. And it might cause the movement to go into all sorts of different directions that we can't even imagine because we're symptoms of our own time line and influences.

I do want to see this movie, although I will wait until it releases to streaming (I tend to buy on itunes, as long as it exists) but I rarely go to movie theaters any more because I just hate sitting in a theater to watch a movie (really don't like the atmosphere which has gotten a lot worse over the years).

  10. What really gets me is not that these border patrol guys were racist or that they said stupid shit. What gets me is the amount of hatred generated at AOC because of "reasons". Over the last few weeks, I've never read so much hatred generated at one woman because she actually cares about issues that involve socialism, which usually involves the rights of people and basic dignity. Yet, they treat her like she's advocating bringing in the very worst possibilities of civilization due to some strange belief that socialism is inherently evil, even though the majority of Americans have absolutely no concept of what socialism is or even that it might actually  be the greatest thing THEY could ever imagine for themselves, and I'm not even a socialist who realizes that.
