I'm really near the end I feel
For end game players:
Did you continue playing end game past the epilogue? I'm seeing online a ton of people are sticking on chapter 4 to do all the exploration and side stuff cause no one wants to play as Marston cause Arthur is such a great character. Maybe I should just play online now.
SpoilerNot really. I left no stranger / side missions incomplete before the epilogues. Any desire to finish with legendary animals has been zapped since there is no trophy and little incentive to explore the southern west area. I think it was a mistake not to spend more time in that part of the map during the epilogues. I finished "collecting" rock cravings and dream charms while still Arthur but no desire to do dinosaur bones or flowers. Also rock carvings seems pointless after you switch to Marston - I forgot to go visit the guy after finding all 10 and went while being Marston - nothing happened.
Really the moment the switch to Marston occurred I had no desire to play. The only thing I kind of want to do is visit the graves of the characters that fell - there is a trophy for that. The only issue with that is there are 9 and all over the map - I just don't feel like doing all that travel anymore

I've also lost weapons. None of the unique ones but stuff I had modded and styled.
It's happened like 3 times. I suspect it has to do with missions where you are forced to use a weapon you didn't have on you
But likely you will have enough money later where this stuff becomes irrelevant. Like I mentioned I have 9000 without using any gold glitch and I don't really need anything.
Also, at max honor, you get 50% off at all stores

considering Im at chapter 6 and have like $4500 in cash burning a hole in my chaps.... id rather just lose the pelt!
Yeah money becomes irrelevant. I'm sitting on 9000 and in chapter 6 as well. I've started to wonder how much Dutch wants to steal to finance their future because I feel like my Arthur already has the money and is being selfish
-
To clarify, you can lose it and you will get a message that the trapper can now craft with the skin - you just cant sell it to him but its only like 20 or so anyway

I agree.
Then there's the aspect of not being able to fast travel if you have any cargo on your horse such as a Legendary Pelt or anything of value. I assume the theory was that there's an added sense of danger with ambushes when riding back the absurd distances coming from a Legendary Animal kill but seeing how that hunting task itself tends to be a major, major pain in the ass, I find it silly. Seeing how the ambushes spawn out of thin air and randomly with the ability to create up to several attacks per travel route, it's overkill.
You can lose the legendary pelt (and not something you need to bring to camp) but otherwise any other pelt yeah if you're trying to upgrade stuff. I've upgraded a bunch of things already but not sure if I'll try anymore. I have less issue with traveling...more so locating the animals that you need.

Im not 100% sure how far through 6 I am, but I can tell you there is a lot to do. I looked at my mission log before I quit last night and I had done like 6-7 missions (plus few side missions) and I feel like there is still a lot to do.
You can check how many missions there are online via social club. There's about twice asany missions in 6 than there were in 5

ok cool. was hoping to finish this soon to be able to play more games. im.... somewhere in chapter 4
Well I have no idea how long 6 and the two epilogues take though lol
-
I took forever to get to ch4 but things move along quick quickly towards the end of 4. Not sure how the rest of it plays out but 5 went by in like 2 hours as it never really gives you a chance to chill.
Wonder if the epilogues will be the same way but for now about to get to ch6

It's not great but I'm fine with the mission design except when for some reason you have to ride really damn slow to your destination. I enjoy story but I would rather it be a hands off cuts scene than to riding my horse or a carriage at such a slow pace
The bad thing is that likely none of these issues will be addressed in a patch.

It's been the same for a while now with their games - not sure why they don't put work into controls. It's like they are scared to change them or just delusional because the games sale really well anyway

is there a way to switch between the types of dead eye? i did the mission where you can click it and shoot once but i cant figure out how to do multiple shots again
Are you hitting R1? I rarely ever used this myself but started to recently.

I've seen hotels that have lists of things you can buy. Some hotels you stay at say you can take some items but usually expensive rooms. I've also had friends take towels and bath robes - no issues afterwards.
But yeah, they are not there to grab unless specifically says so

Just when I got super pissed and was ready to call the game a piece of shit for its disgustingly stupid Wanted/Bounty system, I randomly explored for an hour and stumbled on a rival gang hideout, the Hanging Dog Ranch. I stealth killed four guys with my knife and then got into a massive gun fight include some gory-ass melee kills and executions, came out alive and now I'm in love again.
This game is like an abusive partner, I swear. I'll be reporting it for abuse one minute and asking it to come back and have sex with me the next.
I think that hideout will keep spawning more Odriscols till a later mission - 1) there is building that is locked with items you can't access inside (you can see via the window) 2) they were back the last time I rode by

Seriously? That's some cool shit. I was able to loot the whole camp after that mission.
Yeah, I wasn't able to so I waited it out. Was surprised by it

whenver ive tried to do this, all the bodies are gone.
so i loot as many as i can before the area turns red. then i hightail it outta there.
During the mission where you save Sean and after you clear the camp - I tried looting everyone there but not too long after I needed to leave the area because of the rest of the gang returning. What I didn't expect to see is the gang actually take their fallen comrades away on their horse taking the loot with them

Something that annoys me that seems to borrow finding cars in GTA - animals. No problem finding turkeys or deer...finding a raccoon or badger? I'm taking longer to find them than it took to track down and kill 5 legendary animals in probably the same amount of time in areas that Arthur marked the map after seeing the two.

Im not positive, but I thought I just read that you can hold down the loot button and Arthur will loot evreything within the area. havent tested this yet, but that could help with the alignment issue.
That's for everything else but looting bodies. Like if you're at a table with multiple items in front of you then holding square will go through all items. Same for in front of a dresser with multiple drawers - if you hold the button down it will go through all the drawers and items.

So some dude ran into my horse and aggro'd him and he started shooting at me.
I pistol whipped him and now have bounty on me. What's best way to get rid of it? Just get caught?
Go to postal man and pay the bounty. When I started playing I would restart but it's inevitable for it to happen again and the bounties are usually low so just pay. I accidentally choked a stagecoach guy and now owe like $15 in Valentine. Oh well

So I'd like to replay a mission from my Progress chapter list but I'm worried it's going to somehow fuck up my current game progress since it's two missions back by now. How exactly does the game handle replaying missions?
When you're finished, does it toss you back where you were?
Does the game expect you to do story missions in a certain order by the way? I ignored Hosea in Chapter 2 until the bitter end because...I don't know...and the hunting/buy a horse mission seems to have simply erased my horse which was at a higher level than what I ended up having to buy? Is there some in-game logic I'm not following here and the previous horse is simply somewhere else? The first cutscene started where you 'learn' how to saddle and unsaddle a horse and boom, my horse was replaced with some animal I had never seen.
You get no bonuses for replaying a mission so I would leave it till later to get the trophy if you end up wanting that. Otherwise, it's pretty difficult to get gold in your first play through since you don't know the objectives unless you look it up
Otherwise, what you do in a replay mission doesn't carry over to the main. I believe you go back to your last save after you're done with replaying.

I haven't fucking played RDR1 nor GTAV so my last Rockstar experience was GTAIV for maybe 10 hours total a decade ago. Sue me for expecting some progress in story mission design since then.
I don't even get your point. Are you saying if I had played all others then I wouldn't be allowed to criticize this aspect because expecting progress in their core design is stupid? I haven't, so by your rules I may and therefore you can drop it because you have closure now.
And despite all my criticisms I just sunk another 4 hours into all sorts of cool side content that I enjoy greatly right now.
No point in getting worked up...we're talking about a game.
Have you played other rockstar games? Because you just described GTA as well with differences really down to mode of transportation and setting
Not sure what people were expecting if they played previous Rockstar games
That was my comment - if you mentioned that you hadn't really played the games prior to this, then that would have been the end of it. Otherwise, the point I was making is that you made the statement that described Rockstar games exactly as they are as if it's something new.

The point is, the controls in this game are worse to us. I don’t think we’re saying old rockstar games have stellar controls or anything. But this game is noticeably worse to us.
Well, I never said the controls were any better or worse - just that Rockstar is known for this type of handling since GTA 3.

I just finished it a few days ago - at $20 I think it's definitely worth it. I have played the previous "games" as well and enjoyed them too. The only gameplay in these games are QTE but I think it's handled well enough.
The main focus of these games is the choices you make that affect the story - can't remember if previous games had this but in Detroit there is a decision map that is shown at the end of each chapter to see the branching of your decisions. You can replay the game and purposely make other choices to see what the outcomes are. I personally never replay, though.
With that said, if you haven't watched Humans (TV show), then might be better off just watching that.
