A lot of people have gone digital only. They care about convenience, not price.

I’m digital only on PC. Obviously. But they have amazing deals everywhere. Money obviously doesn’t matter to some. But matters in my world for sure.

Even this gen I’m 70% digital on PS4, but there’s still been a times I’ll pickup an older title for $10 on Amazon or something.

    Digital only

I dont deal with Craigslist or FB because I dont wanna deal with people, what ever money to be made isnt worth the time. Physical sales are nice but for me by the time you include gas, time spent at the store if they have it in stock, install time, downloading updates VS pick up my phone buy it and its installed before I even get home, no contest its Digital all the way.

I’d agree.... IF there were options digitally. It’s 99% whatever Sony allows. Very few other sites even have digital codes, unlike PC.

Plus, it’s not a hassle to drive to the store since most people have to drive to get groceries or drive to work anyhow.

Also, simply ordering games online from deep Amazon sales and Best Buy, EBay etc.

  3. So, initially I almost pulled the plug on the $399 console.

I didn’t as I thought how locking myself down to whatever Sony wants to charge is bad news. Heck, even today I’ll see $60 charge on 3-4 year old games on PSN.

The ability to go back and pick up games at bargain bin prices can’t be overstated. Buying a $60 title at launch, beating it, selling it on Facebook for $45 if you felt inclined. Getting the benefits of price drops and sales at online retailers, physical retailers, and also PSN.

The extra $100 premium will pay itself back tenfold.

    Not surprising, but disappointing.

When the year started and it was still a pretty good looking rumor that PS5 would have universal BC I was not only going to make the PS5 the first console I ever bought at launch, but also pick up my first 4k TV to go along with it.

Now, I will probably be waiting 3 or 4 years to pick one up. I mean, Sony isn't responsible for all of it, what with the world ending in a fiery plague and all, but it was nice of them to go out of their way to make the PS5 disappointing enough so that I really don't mind having to wait.

Having 5 generations of games to play is unheard of. It’s impossible. It can’t be done. Seriously. Can’t ever be done.

Got it. Do you know if your current RAM is DDR3 or DDR4? I’m not sure which the 4000 Intel CPUs used, but if it’s DDR3, you’ll also need new RAM.

As it stands, you’d 100% want to go AMD if only for PCI-E 4.0. The other option is to wait 3-5 months for Intel’s next chips.

Though, really, with AMD’s press conference in a couple weeks, you should at least wait to see what they say.

It’s Corsair something. I can not confirm. Maybe 3? But maybe 4?

  6. I’ve got an Asus Maximus Hero VII

    she was expensive. $300.

She’s still good, but it’s older and doesn’t accept anything but LGA1150 chips.

    I have an i5 4670k and it’s no point in spending $200 to get a 4770k or 4790k.

May as well, get a new mobo.

Any suggestions? Not trying to break the bank. But it’s getting time for a new mobo

This is why it's good when games specify what their recommendations can realistically achieve. "Recommended for 1080p/30FPS" for example. A lot more games are doing it nowadays.

Agreed. We’re at a point where it needs to be said what performance you’ll get with “minimum” and “recommended”.

wasnt always the case. Didn’t always matter like it does now. But it matters. They do need to specify what settings/frame rate/resolution you can expect

Recommended used to mean you'd get like, high settings at 60ish FPS. At least on most games. Nowadays it just means it won't crash I guess.

Isn’t that minimum? To me minimum means low settings at 30fps.

Recommended means 1080p/30 or 1080p/60 at medium settings in my book. Least that’s how it’s always been.

Damn low end graphics cards holding err thing back... Or something something.

    Right? 😂

my ass bought a GTX 780 at launch back in what? 2013? Somehow you can play cyberpunk with it?! Sure it’ll be low/med settings at 720p or whatever. Still.

I bought bought a GTX1070 from a board member here couple years ago. Truly haven’t felt the need to upgrade, mainly because I only use a 1440p 60hz monitor and most games run at near high as is.

I have no allegiance to any company and dgaf who "wins" but from my purely anecdotal evidence everyone I know who has bought an xbox one, and/or plans to buy a series s/x they're super casual players who only buy a couple of sports games and Call of Duty.

I don't see how that's a sustainable business model if they're not drawing anyone in with new exclusives, but the lower price of the series S and the possibility of XBL gold going free would be a huge step in the right direction.

My brother in law has an X1

strictly plays sports. Only sports. That’s all. Period. He’s also buying a series X day one. why? Who knows. I’d not spend $500 to play NBA2k and Madden lol

Back on topic, I put together the currently released games confirmed to have next-gen lighting (ie: raytracing) updates.

    Free

    Witcher 3
    Marvel's Avengers
    Fortnite
    Gears 5

    New retail release

    Spider-Man Remastered (part of MM's $70 edition)
    Control Ultimate Edition
Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition

    Notable MIAs
    Metro Exodus
    Shadow of the Tomb Raider

    Battlefield V

    Wolfenstein Youngblood

Minecraft (still just a demo, for now)

    Crysis Remastered

Does it in the current gen

Very interested to see how this list grows.  I don't think we should expect nearly of much of it as general resolution/framerate/texture uplifts.  It would make these RT updates more selective ... but that's not a great argument for a full new retail release either.

So $70 gets me MM+spidy upgrade day 1?
