Are you serious with this nonsense? Letting a fragile life pass away is not equivalent in form, function, or consequence to execution. Try again.

What the fuck is a fragile life?  There's a lot of children with major health issues where life expectancy is lower than normal..are they next beacuse their life is fragile?

Age should not be a sole defining  factor in treatment availability.   Shit...most cancers are more treatable in elderly people just because it doesn't advance as fast.

We've gone to the mother fucking moon.....we can figure out  universal healthcare

I wouldn’t let my family spend that kind of money on me if I were an old man. 34 year old me, that has young kids at home? Sure. But we need to move beyond our western fears of death. We literally talk about 90 year old people dying like it’s a tragedy. It’s not, that’s an exceptional life lived in the history of human civilization. That doesn’t mean those close to that person can’t be sad about it.

Homelessness is itself a policy failure that further burdens society. Fixing it is a net benefit to society. And there are societies where the elderly understand they shouldn’t burden the younger generations with their unproductive selves :p

If that's the thinking then its an easy jump to kill of drug abusers and murderers.  They contribute nothing to society...except wasting tax payer dollars that could go to education and healthcare.  If you want to deny a 93 year old life saving treatment but are ok with supporting a 35 year old who raped and murdered a 7 year old to the tune of 38 thousand a year for 20 years....who will eventually get out and has a high chance of getting out and continuing to be a drag on society.....then it seems to be counter productive to each other.

Edit: I am in favor of neither...but rather working harder to find a better solution.

Shit...if thats the choice probably to give the 93 year old a gun at least and drop them off on Republcan Politicians lawns so they can at least take a couple of them down on their way out.

Thats what Clint Eastwood would do..

Counting on moderates to support a moderate is foolish. Fox News is going to have at least four months to turn that moderate into a socialist. We've already got ads running saying M4A and the Public Option are the same thing.

I have to disagree.   I've lived in a lot of different areas of the country and Conservatives vastly differ.....even as to what they consider liberal or conservative.  There are a lot of moderates out there who just don'y vote...but can be compelled to if the right approaches are taken.

  4. I think Bernie should reach out to Klobuchar.......I feel that a Bernie Klobuchar ticket would have the best chance to pull the midwest.  Pull Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa back in and keep Minnesota....she understands how to approach a divided liberal/conservative voter base in those regions.

That said...I'll vote for Democrat on the ticket....no matter what.

  5. I didn't watch it....but I have a two different VR cameras one is a 360 and one is a 180and I've been making a lot of videos.  No one has dies, but I love watching my 180 videos in VR.

It's crazy awesome how i willput you in a moment better than any 2D Video especially when considering scale.

Some people are def gonna get trapped in memories to the point of crazy.....ex-girlfriends...yikes.

I have yet to see one of these films.

Have you seen Point Break?    Then You've seen The Fast and the Furious...in fact....The Point Break series never ended either..  Johnny Utah  is really John Wick ....he's been in deep cover the whole time working to take down the entire criminal underworld.

That's basically the route the Fast Series went...with the first based in reality....an edgy reality..but believable....to well....defying the laws of space/time and physics so hard that if the next featured a car chase scene on the moon...it wouldn't be abnormal.

The road funding is a waste of money anyway unless 100% of it goes to maintenance. America needs to stop building new highways.

We need telework incentives.   Half the people in our IT dept could telework...but Management and Mid Level Burecrats won't let that happen....and it's the same pretty much on every other projecy I've worked on in the DC area.....if they did you cut DC traffic by 1/4th I bet.

For me it's a 10 minute 5 mile drive....most other people drive an 45 minutes to an hour around the Beltway and further.

If only we could take helicopters to work and  social events like the cake eaters..

  8. Usually I go 5 years.   Due to circumstances I just nabbed a 16"MBP after 12 years of not owning a MAC mostly because of not being able to do gaming on it....now with game streaming it doesn't matter.

It is replacing a 3 year old MSI 15" Gaming Laptop that is still way faster than it..but heavier and worse battery due to beefy specs.

Really liking the change so far, but a little sad I can't spin up more devices in GNS3 to simulate my networks for my work and study purposes....but hey..thats what my desktop is for.

My intention is not to be basic or reductive. We can only know these public figures to a limited degree. And Kobe’s legacy is mostly one of positivity. Screaming about his rape allegation seems to me like those people who scream about MLKJr plagiarizing his college essays or whatever. Yeah, he probably did some bad shit, and we can talk about that, but do we need to scream about it on MLK day, when most of the world is trying to reflect on all the good he did for the world?

Not a bad point...but I'm gonna stay consistent so when Trump dies I don't have to worry about being nice.

If Jared and Ivanka had bit it on their copter ride I wouldn't have waited either ....

Kobe Bryant did a terrible thing, but by all accounts as a whole was a great person that left a tremendous positive legacy behind. It's fine if you want to have the discussion if he "made up" for what he did through all his other actions or not, but the immediate reaction by the people who actually knew him wasn't to think of the rape, it was to think of everything else he has done.

At the end of the day he played a sport really well.   That's about it.

But we have a Football Player Rapist culture so....it fits.  We worship celebrity....for better or worse..that's us.

We have more than one person in this thread acting happy Kobe died, but the post saying he was a "complicated figure" was what turned this into a 5 page thread. People are strange.

I'd say I'm indifferent that a cake eater choked on his cake.

I'd have felt the same way if they would have gone down

  12. When Chris Cline fell out of the sky with his kid I was not saddened one bit...same here. Wealthy people..who have so many options available to be environmentally friendly..chose one of the most polluting modes of travel for unimportant events...especially in a state that is struggling with pollution problems.

And when the environmental shit starts hitting the fan....the wealthy are gonna suffer the least from it.

I dragged Trump for pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords.......I'll drag the rest of them too...even if they are beloved icons...because at the end of the day...they really don't care about the rest of us. And that's cool...feelings mutual.

To be honest, I'd rather we attack this issue by having people taught about how to eat healthy and choosing to do so, rather than being forced to. I don't think rolling this back does any good at all, though.

We do.   Parents of these kids just dont care.

On that note....I've been shot down like 8 or 9 times at PTA meetings for suggesting we have longer recesses and regular everyday gym class.

I just saw this movie yesterday afternoon - it was really good! Great, dark black comedy riff on murder mysteries like Murder on the Orient Express. To me it felt like The Cabin in the Woods, but for the murder mystery/detective genre as opposed to the horror genre (they are very different, of course).

    So well made. Really entertaining.

I thought it was a lot like Clue in that the biggest draw was really watching all these great actors get to have fun and chew the scenery in a mystery wrapping.

  15. Thielen most likely out for Vikings or severly limited...but considering how amped up Diggs was last week that he wasn't getting thrown too...might not be as bad as it could be.....everything really moves through Dalvin at the line.

It's house money at this point so no pressure although the players have been pretty quiet this week and focused because they have a lot who remember what happened in Philly after the big win against the Saints.
