Remedy Entertainment Plc ("Remedy") and Tencent Plc ("Tencent") have decided to cancel the game project codename Kestrel. Codename Kestrel had a small team working on the early concept stage of a premium cooperative multiplayer game. The game was being developed by Remedy, co-financed with Tencent, and to be co-published with Tencent. The project started in November 2023 as a reboot from an earlier project codenamed Vanguard.

The decision to cancel codename Kestrel allows Remedy to focus more on the other games in its portfolio. Other ongoing game development projects will get experienced developers reassigned from Kestrel. In addition, the planned investment needs for Kestrel are removed and Remedy's overall recruitment needs are reduced.

  2. I will expense whatever I buy so I don’t have a budget per se but I do want to keep it reasonable.

As an accountant, I need one or two monitors. I would prefer to get a monitor that can also be used for gaming as well in the future if possible.

  3. I started a new job last week. The first two weeks are mainly in the office but after that it will be 4 remote and 1 on-site. I never really needed a home setup before so any recommendations for a desk, chair, and monitors would be appreciated. I plan to eventually add a full gaming PC to this office so it will be a dual purpose space. Thanks

The major mistake was on Sony's part in allowing the game to be sold on Steam in those restricted territiories to begin with in the full knowledge that the PSN integration would occur sooner or later.

Sony should have turned on the restriction flag on the Steamworks back end immediately once the game's Steam page went live.

I do have a part to play. I am not blameless in all of this - it was my decision to disable account linking at launch so that players could play the game. I did not ensure players were aware of the requirement and we didn't talk about it enough.

We knew for about 6 months before launch that it would be mandatory for online PS titles.

If all parties knew of this requirement, huge fuck up they allowed the game to be sold in those countries

agreed. im totally baffled by this. big deal, you need to create a free account and link it. as if this is something new. PC players finally getting sony exclusives and then lose their minds over this is wild. it would really suck if sony rethinks their strategy of continuing to release games on pc  going forward if this is the reaction to something so insignificant. and im sure there will be exceptions for the regions that cant create PSN accounts.

True. No big deal. Person in Ukraine just needs to buy a PS4/PS5 so they can create a PSN account to play their PC game. #BeGratefultoSony

Same version here. Actually didn't even realize this game had autosaves. That sucks. I wonder why you're getting hit with so many bugs. It's been pretty clear sailing for me, even when jumping back and forth between my PC and laptop using cloud saves.

I have been playing it exclusively on the Ally ROG. I have no clue. I am only using one save slot.  To lose 2-3 hours in progress is too much for me. I stopped in the mine dungeon.

What platform? I read there were a bunch of bugs on the Switch port, but I haven't read too deeply into it. I haven't encountered any bugs on the PC side of things. I'm 20 hours in juggling between two save slots.

I'm enjoying my time with the game so far. I did find a sort of bug in the game if anyone was interested in exploiting it. The first time you get a chance to visit Bounty Hill, the left-most soldier blocking the path to protect you from extra strong monsters is doing a poor job of it. If you run around him, you'll trigger some fights with monsters far above your expected current level. Three fights there gave me enough XP to bring the whole party up 15 levels.

The reaction to this is absurdly overblown, but also this was a dumb move by Sony.  Just offer people something like 500-1,000 super credits for linking accounts and you’ll get almost everyone without the outrage.

There are some countries that don’t have PSN like China. No way Sony excludes China so I’m sure it won’t be a requirement for certain countries. At that point, why force it on everyone else?

Sony didn’t expect this to be such a huge hit and now wants to force PSN so it can report PSN growth during an earnings call. This has nothing to do with safety and security imo.

  9. I got another save bug so I’m out. Basically I save each time I see a save point. Then after a few save points, I will visit one that shows no saves. Your saves and the auto saves are all missing.  You can pick a slot and it will say “are you sure you want to overwrite?” even though it’s blank. At this point, you quit the game and reload. Your saves are back but you lose so much time.

For instance, I loaded my save. Played a couple of hours, saved a couple of times until I encountered the blank slots. I reload and see the save initially used tonight so all progress lost. Also for some reason, this game auto saves so infrequently that I am not sure why it even has it.

From what I played, Its pretty average.  I never played a Suikoden game so maybe I don’t have the nostalgia to look past the many faults. The game looks modern but feels old in a bad way.

  10. I do think this has by far been the most negative generation I can remember.

Supply chain causing a lack of hardware which allowed bots/scalpers charge an arm and a leg in the secondary market.

Story after story of toxic environments and employee harassment.

Significant amount of studio closures and consolidation which has led to record layoffs.

Rising prices in games, services, and hardware.  Still no price cuts this far in the generation.

Every week there seems to be another negative story. Even through all of this, there are still so many amazing games being released. I got Cyperpunk, BG3, Starfield, Spiderman 2, and so many other great games in my backlog to play.  I feel paralyzed whenever I look at it and try to figure out what to play next.
