Trump’s lastest statement:
“In a key sentence of the constitution the founders used the phrase separation of church and state. Upon reviewing the transcript I realized this is an error. What they meant to say was fuck everything, what I say goes.”

He wants a second meeting to start implementing what they discussed, which means he made a number of agreements this past Monday.

I mean this genuinely: what purpose does impeachment or the 25th amendment serve if not for this?
Like, I wish Congress would repeal and amend those provisions, because parading them around under the guise of “if things get bad enough” is pure horseshit.

I really try to refrain from the whole “can you imagine if Obama..,” because while amusing to illustrate Republican hypocrisy, it really only drives a deeper partisan wedge.
But I cannot help myself here. Can you imagine if Obama was considering shipping US citizens overseas to be interrogated, or inviting Russians to US soil to interview Americans?
Like holy fucking shit.

Facebook’s problem is they allow all points of view, even ones that are objectively false or hateful. They believe this makes them look tolerant and reasonable, when in fact it does the opposite.

I'm sure most of you here are already familiar, but I just came across emptywheel a few days ago. Reading over her blog posts has been fascinating.
Anyone else read her stuff on Russia?

While National Security Adviser John Bolton, according to a source, thought Trump’s remarks were ill-advised, he believed that walking them back would only add fuel to the outrage pyre and make the president look weak. But Chief of Staff John Kelly was irate. According to a source, he told Trump it would make things worse for him with Robert Mueller. He also exerted pressure to try to get the president to walk back his remarks. According to three sources familiar with the situation, Kelly called around to Republicans on Capitol Hill and gave them the go-ahead to speak out against Trump. (The White House did not respond to a request for comment.) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan held televised press conferences to assert that Russia did meddle in the election.

That's the best excuse they could come up with?
How long until he completely contradicts this statement and says he was right all along? I feel like it usually only takes him a day or two.
Yep in order for his explanation to hold he’ll have to unequivocally state it was Russia going forward.
I imagine he’ll forget that by tomorrow mornings tweet storm.

In no way am I absolving the American electorate by saying that Obama played a role in Trump's ascendancy and presidency due to his negligence and lack of resolve. That's flatly true. I didn't say he played the biggest part or even the second biggest part. But he played a significant enough role.
Obviously, at least the 40% base that keeps approving of Donald Trump's presidency in polling are a bunch of dumb ass fucking morons who want to burn us all down, in case anyone needed me to be clear about my opinion on the subject.
It was said earlier by a different user, and said perfectly.
The only role Obama had in electing Trump or motivating the Republican Party was his existence.

It's like an objective major loser like McGovern never happened.
All this blame for "who is responsible for Trump" is really absolving the people who actually voted for this piece of shit of agency in the matter
That's because, sadly, the most taboo thing in American politics is criticizing the electorate.

Obama is responsible for Trump in the same way the existence of black people is responsible for the KKK.

I watched parts of Hannity last night and he didn't even play the controversial clips. He just pretended like they didn't happen. It really felt like I was watching news from another dimension or something.
I’m ashamed to admit I watch Hannity every night, at least 10-15 minutes, sometimes more.
Last night was par for the course.

Unfortunately there is Fox News, and then there is Fox prime time lineup. Tucker, Hannity, and Ingram all came to his side, and instead of focusing on the press conference, dedicated a majority of their programs to the media’s response.

So how long until the real issue is the 'libs response'
Ah I see you didn’t watch Tucker or Hannity tonight.

That’s actually remarkably accurate.

It took me longer to realize this was Paul Manafort and not Donald Trump than I care to admit.
