Yup, one thing is for sure and that's that several folks will change their tune a few times before either system launches. This happens every generation.

I'm buying one day one, and have no problem with change. That said, the last generation, from a hardware perspective, went on too long. PCs have come a long way as has Steam, so it disappointing to see MS choice a less focused  hardware architecture when they were already up against a cost/power curve that would be tough to hit the sweet spot on. Also, and game "footage" shown at this point needs to be taken with a pile of salt. Yes, that Forza vid looks awesome, but more times then not we are being given the bait and switch, so I wouldn't point to it as an example of what the system will actually do. Bottom line though, I do agree that for most people this system will be just what they are looking for, but for core gamers it will be a harder sell.

I don't have a problem with a multi-capable
device at all.  I like and want those features.

My problem is the anti-consumer restrictions and drawbacks we're hearing about and what the details are surrounding those.

This + those other features have hardware costs associated with them that ultimately take away from the potential power of the gaming specific architecture. All info so far points to the PS4 being somewhere between 50%-66% more powerful than the X1 because they made a more focused product.

Overclocked Phenom is still slower than a stock i5.

Very true, but from what I understand from other forums it still cuts the mustard, if you will.
