  1. But at least they have a sense of humor.
  2. ~~Rate the last movie you watched~~

Finally got around to watching Citizen Kane. I was very surprised, it was a very watchable movie. I didn't expect much from a movie from 1941, but it was pretty impressive. 8/10
  3. Yeah I'm not seeing it either. And nearly a third of the categories I do see are related to being an ex-pat. Facebook has a category diversification problem.
  4. What really chaps my ass with this are the quotes around the Department of Justice's name. I know it's not at all a new criticism, but this is yet another one of his moves to attempt to delegitimize American institutions, sowing dissent and confusion. And this is our president.
  5. For true believers, Jesus would turn water into assault rifles.
  6. Post your pic!

Ah yes I see I wrote "where did you go snowboarding", when I meant "where do you go"? My bad.
  7. Post your pic!

The sign saying Breckenridge led me to believe this was the case.
  8. I'm amazed that January 5th didn't make it as a holiday, given that it is the birthday of Our Dear Leader.
  9. Post your pic!

Where did you go snowboarding around Seattle, @Boyle5150 ? When I was at PLU I never managed to go but I had a lot of friends that went to Crystal and Stevens Pass and they had pretty positive things to say overall.
  10. New car!

Congrats on the new wheels! If you're happy with the Corolla, that's a good enough reason to get another one. It seems to have served you well! No doubt there were plenty of new features in the newer model, given the 12 year difference! Am I seeing that right, it came with 40k miles on it?
  11. Canning, prepping, and saving money.

That's a good point; homemade anything (food-wise :p) is almost always better than what you can buy in a store, so I can see how this could outweigh any additional potential time investment. Maybe someday I will give it a go, then. Thanks, you two!
  12. What are you reading right now?

The Grapes of Wrath has been sitting on my shelf to be read for about a year now and I keep getting distracted. Will be curious to know what you think once you're done. I got through about 2/3rds of "East of Eden" from him and really enjoyed it (left it in the US rather than bringing it back to Germany with me so I didn't finish it). We're reading The Underground Railroad for our book club this month. I haven't started it but the reviews are really positive and the setting is fairly unique. Looking forward to it.
  13. How much off was it this week? It's the kind of game I would like to have digitally to just be able to fire up now and then for a quick round, but $50 for Bomberman seems insane to me.
  14. Canning, prepping, and saving money.

I'm not meaning this as judgmentally as it probably sounds, but I'm genuinely curious how canning is worth it when also considering the time involved. Isn't it fairly time-intensive to can vegetables? Even if you made 3x the amount of Okra for the same price, how much of your time did you invest into this? Again, not trying to rain on your parade. I am genuinely curious. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to this kind of stuff, so it would have to be very easy before I would consider it as an alternative to just buying another can.
