Should it be?

Probably not. It isn't even minimum wage. A lot of programs do have sliding scales where you can can receive some benefits while earning  up to %200 of poverty level. That still isn't enough to live off of. It's really annoying that $15/hr has become a rallying cry for the left because that isn't enough either.

$15/hr was what was needed about a decade ago
