Cancel it now, they don’t need to follow through just because it was announced, it was a bust, make a sequel to 2008 like everyone really wants/needs.

Ubisoft no longer expects the game to be out in the 2023 fiscal year.

A new release target hasn't been set, but it's still possible that The Sands of Time Remake could appear in 2023: The company's 2022-23 fiscal year ends on March 31, 2023, so it could miss that mark and still arrive in the 2023 calendar year. The fact that it's being delisted from retailers points to a seriously significant wait, though—enough to make me think that development might be starting over from scratch.

No one wants this bad enough for all this trouble. Sands of Time is one of my favorite games of all time and even I don’t really care if it gets remade. Just relaunch the series and give me some new ones.

Agreed. The game is fine as-is and is available on a bunch of platforms already. 
 

Maybe we can get a remake of the OG Rayman done in the Rayman Origins art style instead?
