Man that game doesn’t need a remake, it’s still gorgeous on pc at 4k, just up the resolution and call it a day. But if it helps move the needle at all to getting a sequel to POP2008 then this is great news.

 

Edit: No the DS game doesn’t count

I’ll buy it just in the hopes it helps push along a damn sequel.  They really should bring the Prince of Persia series back since Assassins Creed has moved sooooo far away from it at this point.

This was my one thinking point. It’s a good chance to build a game with the AC traversal, but in a much more streamlined way.

 

I think I have Sands if Time in my cupboard and I might give it a go again at some point.

While Cel Shaded graphics usually do hold up better over time, its not like they don't benefit from updates. Granted Wind Waker was a much older game, but its upgrade was pretty large. I don't see why PoP couldn't benefit from the same upgrade.

Well, it certainly makes more sense to remake Sands of Time over the 2008 remake, but I just want more of the 2008 remake (a sequel, please?) than another remake that got four direct console sequels already.

That has to be a remaster...right...? I'm no expert but this looks like an HD texture pack.

 

If this is an actual remake, I'm confused.

If that's a remaster, I want the original game un-remastered by comparison. This looks like something in-between, and it is horrific. What is this, pre-alpha footage?

This looks like Sands of Time with HD Textures, and it still looks pretty poor IMO.

 

I'm kinda shocked they didn't do a full remake/re-imaging of Sands of Time.

It looks like an underbudgeted remake more than a remaster.  This would have looked decent for a late-gen PS3 game.

 

Hopefully the target is 60fps, because that would excuse some of it.

It'll be interesting to see. It's being developed by Ubi Mumbai and Pune, which haven't really done anything other than help on Let's Dance titles and some Gameloft shit. This might be Ubi throwing them a bone to see what they can do on their own. 

 

I'm not really feeling the look of the prince, I think they could've updated him a little bit more, but who knows, there might be a bunch of little things that add up to make it look better.
