NeoJoe
I have no idea what that's about after watching that trailer.

Holy shit, was just about to type the same thing. I watched the entire trailer and it just looks like a random A24 releases highlight reel. NeoJoe
And after seeing that scene where he seems to pour a bowl of spiders on himself, that gets a big ol' NOPE from me in terms of watching it. lol
Chris-
I’ve read the book and can confirm that it is going to be good...Pollock’s writing can be a bit much at time, but imagine ‘post-modern Southern gothic set in rural Ohio’ and you get the gist of it. The trailer doesn’t even begin to show how incredibly fucked up it’s going to be!
TheLeon
All I needed to see was Pattinson as a backwoods preacher, and I’m sold.

If it's a backwoods preacher you want, Pattinson's character is practically a distraction! Just you wait.
Chris-
To illustrate what you guys are getting into... Quote Jeff Baker of The Oregonian noted that the novel "reads as if the love child of [Flannery] O'Connor and [William] Faulkner was captured by Cormac McCarthy, kept in a cage out back and forced to consume nothing but onion rings, Oxycontin and Terrence Malick's Badlands." thewhyteboar
The book was alright. I think the writer's short story collection was better. I'll check this out.

It would appear to be about a Vet with a past (also possibly disturbed) going up against a possibly corrupt preacher in a small backwoods town. Didn't seem all that abstract to me. I'll check it out when it comes out.
Chadatog
I believe it's a son of a Vet with a past, spider man is the son and Pennywise is the vet father

TheLeon
Well this is certainly a light and breezy way to spend a Saturday morning.
johnny
I watched about half last night before I went to bed. Liked it but it definitely takes its time getting to the main character. Might finish it today.
Chris-
I liked it! It's a very, very good (though not quite perfect) adaptation of the book. I'd say the biggest whiff is the narrator, who is wholly unnecessary (though it's very cool that Pollock himself played it).
