Pikachu
Asus makes a good tablet for the price but the OS is a bit hit or miss: https://www.amazon.com/10-1-inch-1920x1200-storage-battery-Z301MF-A2-GR/dp/B076D7KF1F?th=1 Lenovo is also a decent option: https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Android-Quad-Core-Processor-ZA2J0007US/dp/B0711BT1QK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1533135936&sr=8-5&keywords=asus+zenpad+

As someone very heavily invested in Google's ecosystem and primarily uses a windows PC, there still just isn't a great reason to avoid the iPad. It's just a class above the competition. I have some hope that Chromebook tablets will become a real challenger, but that's a few years away at least. The amount of quality tablet ready software on the iPad is just categorically different than with Android tablets.
AbsolutSurgen
If all you want to do is watch YouTube and surf the web, you don't need a good tablet. A cheap one (like a Fire) will do fine.
Dre801
For a cheap media consumption device, Get a FireHD 10 and install Google Play Services on it.
RedSoxFan9
I’ve yet to use a fire tablet that wasn’t a laggy mess

Dre801
That upcoming Galaxy Tab S4 does look nice. Not a ton of options in the Android tablet space; I think Google is trying to make Chrome OS the tablet OS over Android and other OEMs don't seem to care anymore. I miss the Nexus tablets. misfit410
When I want a cheapo tablet the fire line is good, and you can find Samsung Galaxy Tabs under $200 which are solid personally since PC's finally got the tablet features right and now do so under $400 it's a tough sell for me to go back to normal tablets https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-go/8v9dp4lnknsz?ocid=announce_ema_omc_sur_go_e3_engagers_mod1&activetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab

FireOS is merely Android customized by Amazon, so it's not hard to add back what they deliberately don't include.. I guess Amazon and Google had a falling out or Amazon wants you to rely solely on their App Store.

It just instantly crashes every time I try to use it.
