General Gaming Assassin's Creed Valhalla (17 November 2020) - Information Thread, update: Digital Foundry hands-on with PC version

Not sure why people wanted to see gameplay. We know what Assassin's Creed is and looks and plays like, that would have been a snoozer to watch. :p

I was expecting a gameplay video with a Voice over explaining the advantages of the upcoming generation.

These kind of cross gen games don't have much in the way of advantages besides looking nicer and running better. Remember Black Flag on the 360 and the Xbone? Something like that.

Uh, both recently released Assassin's Creed games have had wildly divergent gameplay from the entire series before it, and from each other as well.

I want to see what an AAA studio’s next-gen (/cross-gen) game looks like in motion, as if I’m playing it. It’s not that hard to understand.

Show me what a port up/enhanced edition looks like to play, if that’s more or less what it is.

What’s ironic is that we’ve already seen this play out between the One and the X.  How much worse could One versions actually get during the cross-gen period?  It’s hard to say. It could be that we’ve already reached bottom or close to it.

The strange thing is both of those were shown during previous E3s and this was not apparent.

So you're saying Ubisoft has a track record of disappointing gameplay reveals, with or without gameplay!

What makes a composer legendary?

Composing, I'd imagine.

By creating many memorable pieces of music? Would you not consider John Williams legendary?

Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Danny Elfman, John Williams among others.

Is Jesper Kyd legendary like them?

I hadn't realized that my offhand snide comment, that I thought was slighting the hyperbolic language that video game PR-folks use in their hype machine turned out to be about the household-name composer Jesper Kyd.

But it looks purdy!

Bet it’s more on poor CPU optimization if Odyssey is anything to go by.

That is very good news. Kyd's soundtrack for Assassin's Creed II was fantastic, and he's Nordic so working on a viking game is a perfect match.

Nothing other than what you've probably heard.  They surfaced during this week's avalanche of inappropriate sexual conduct allegations within the industry.

The articles I have read suggested he lied to a woman about not being married, and had a relationship with her for over a year.

I suspect that Ubi has asked him to take a LOA while they do an investigation.  If he hasn't done anything inappropriate in the workplace, he may return to work when the "embarrassing PR" blows over.  I don't believe what is described in those articles are grounds for termination in Quebec.

I've enjoyed the series since they decided to make it an RPG, so keep giving me more and adding a few more world building layers and character development mechanics per installment. :sun:

1:10 in the first link, that horse took a solid flying wolf kick that threw it like a good 5 feet.
