Capcom admits there is a problem but Denuvo denies that they are part of the problem

Denuvo says that it has nothing to do with the problem.

Quote

Denuvo says that it has nothing to do with any Resident Evil Village stuttering. The company sent PC Gamer the following statement:

"At Denuvo, we understand that an uninterrupted gaming experience is key, after all we're gamers too. With respect to the recent piracy and tampering of Resident Evil Village, we have run multiple tests on multiple machines and there is no difference in game experience on the legitimate version protected with Denuvo Anti-Tamper, versus the unprotected version without Denuvo Anti-Tamper. We cannot comment specifically on the Capcom implementations as they are unrelated to Denuvo's solution."

Capcom putting a lot of time and money into something literally nobody asked for.

Could it be good? Sure.

Will it be though?

My hopes for REverse are non-existent, but you could have made the same argument about the development of 7.

I.... wouldn't say that. I think hype for 7 was legit, especially to big RE fans like me. BUT, being a pretty big RE fan, I can also say I have zero anticipation for RE-verse. All they would have had to do was make it a co-op Raid mode like RE Rev 2 featuring a whole slew of characters and locations from the RE universe and I would have been all over that shit. But the second they mentioned PvP my hype meter went through the floor.

Late to the party (stock response for bumping a thread).

Spoilers for those who haven’t touched the game.

Spoiler

Did anyone find the opening part of the village and the castle took quite some time, but then the Dollhouse and the Mine took maybe an hour and a bit each?

I'm about to amble off the the factory now, so I’m interested to see if this is the area that slows the game down/draws it out - my sneaking suspicion is yea, it is.

Id have preferred a Resident Evil Resistance 2. I have like 300 hours on Resistance and would love to play more but the game is basically dead.

Just started this game last night, what am I missing? I started in hardcore because that's pretty much what I play every RE game on and I'm dying constantly in the first area. I don't remember the other RE games having slow movement and controls AND numerous, fast moving enemies that take whole clips to take down. I may have to start over on normal but I heard that is waaay too easy. Honestly I don't know if I have any desire to even continue the game at this point. Does it get better or is this pretty much what it is?

The first area is not representative of the rest of the game. It's just a thing you have to hold out and live. Other people had this issue too. :p

Ok so it's not just me... whew! I seriously don't know If I even want to continue the game. Like what was the point in designing the game this way if the rest of the game isn't like this? You almost have to play this area like a run and gun shooter and the controls in this game are NOT suited for that at all. I'm so confused about this. And people thought this was a GOTY contender???

So am I just supposed to run around that first area until a cut scene triggers or something? Should I even waste ammo trying to fight these things?

Basically that.

I would say no more than to get yourself out of a jam.

Yeah it is an odd choice, a strange difficulty spike at the beginning of the game and it's not very clear what to do here. But it definitely picks up and gets better.

If you’re at the part where you just have to survive, the best bet is to save all your shotgun ammo then get onto the one roof you can access and try to stay up there. The shotgun is strong enough to knock most enemies off. Also look for the red barrels to take out some other enemies. For this part don’t be afraid to look up a YouTube video or two to see exactly how others have done it and you’ll be able to gauge how long you need to last.

I don't even remember that part being that hard. Or that bad, but it is a tutorial area that, when I replay the game, I already know I'm going to want to breeze through since like most REs, it's great once it opens up and you can explore and figure out keys you need, where to go, etc.

Really stupid design choice for the beginning of the game.

Only thing I can think of is that they were trying to emulate the beginning of RE4 but forgot that this game is first person. The only explanation I can see. Now that I know I'm not supposed to fight these things, I should be able to get pass this part.

I'm playing on Hardcore so maybe it's not as hard on normal. When you don't know what you're supposed to be doing, it's very hard. Also, I've never played a RE evil game that started out like this and I've played them all. Shit design.

They thought they were making RE4's opening segment again only this time it's designed like shit, you can't see anything because apparently the moron you're playing has no peripheral vision, the gunplay sucks and the enemies are absolutely irritating bullet sponges.

Did you give this game more of a shot? I know you didn't like it initially. What are you playing it on?

I beat it on PS5 yea. Ended up buying it when it went on sale. It had cool parts but I just don't like most of the fundamental stuff. I wasn't a huge fan of RE7 either but this one annoyed me more by being a weird RE4 nostalgia trip but worse in every way.

Interesting. I thought it was an awesome game but to each his own. I know you have RE4 on a pedestal lol.

Yeah I loved RE4 but it didn’t age well. The beginning few hours are legit fantastic but then it slowly descends into RE research lab genericness. RE8 stay a lot truer to theme and as a result a lot more fun throughout. Also there is legit not one thing scary in RE4. Village at least has that one whole sequence. And whoever thought of that sequence needs help 😂
