I haven't played yet. I hope to start tonight but I've been tired from work. Thanks for the impressions, guys. Seems like I'm going to have fun with this one. 

 

I'm not sure if I'll run it at 1080p/60fps on my one x or go with the higher resolution at 30fps. I'm so used to 30 and I'd rather run it at a higher resolution on my TV.

The way the monsters will sway back and forth and the lycans will try to dodge your aim, you may want to go with the 60fps.

Ok. I'll obviously test it out. My TV is really nice and the picture is stunning so I'd like to play it at it's highest resolution but if 30 will ruin my game experience I'll go 1080p/60. 

 

I just hope I want to play after work. :/

Playing on ps5 this game sure is pretty. I loved the first hour then

The castle at parts frustrated me with direction. The map is not very helpful. I spent a good half hour retracing my steps. 

 

Overall really enjoying it. I wish I would of finished VII.

All right I’m already stuck at the early ambush part where the Dark souls looking mini boss is chasing you with all the other freaks. Every door that seems to lead To an exit is blocked. I’m not supposed to kill that fucker already am I?

Just keep fighting.....and running. Everything is blocked.

Im not sure if this works for everyone. But make sure you find the shotgun. Then during the chase I went under the house to get some ammo. Then there’s more shotgun ammo in the house with the ladder. I climbed up to the roof and just one shotted enemies in the head to knock them off the roof. When I ran out of ammo I jumped down and ran up to the gate with the red barrel near it. Waited for a couple enemies to get close and blew them up. The end cut scene triggered right after that. 
 

I have no idea what triggers the cut scene (enemies killed or time survived) but that path I took was pretty easy with little to no reisstence so hopefully it helps some people.

Yea. I fired it up after work and played 3 hours. I am pretty impressed. The visuals on the Xbox one x are beautiful and I decided to go with higher resolution with 30fps. I thought the game started out pretty damn creepy, imo. The shooting mechanics are a bit sloppy as @Keyser_Soze warned me but you adjust. The characters and brutality even early on are great. I'm in the Castle now and stopped there.

 

Overall, it's better than what I was expecting. @stepee I did laugh about the sprite wheat fields and even some tree limbs but overall the game looks pretty damn stunning. I think you should play it.

I'm positive it's time survived because I didn't kill any enemies just ran around until the cutscene triggered.

And the credits roll... took me about 11.5 to 12 hours on Normal.

 

I have to say, RE Village was the best Castlevania game in years! 

 

Joking aside, I loved it from start to finish. The final act is great and I just had to push through to the end. Can't wait to get into Mercenaries.

Finished! Took almost exactly 10 hours on Hardcore.

 

If you like a challenge at all, I'd recommend starting on Hardcore... the only difficult part is the first real encounter, since it seems like you need to trigger something specific after hitting a certain amount of time. I think I only ran from one encounter and generally killed everything I ran into. If you have trash aim (I'm not good at games :p ) ammo might be a problem, but in general it isn't.

 

I really enjoyed it a lot. It's probably the most consistently paced RE, and there's only one segment I'm not looking forward to replaying. I think there's a couple missed opportunities here and there, and they get REALLY cute with a couple story beats, but overall it's really really good.

Ethan is the main protagonist of Resident Evil Village. He has a rough life, what with all the dangerous monsters trying to kill him. Ethan’s hands seem to be the main target. They get treated so poorly that I’m starting to suspect...

 


All I could think of when he lost his fingers is that at least he could still count to 8.

Now that I finished my first run of Returnal (gotta go back or NG+), this is next.

 

RE8 is killing it on Playstation in Europe. O_O

 

49% of RE8 sales were on PS5, 31% on PS4 and 20% on Xbox. RE8 is the 3rd biggest PS5 launch to date, behind Spider-Man Miles Morales and Assassin's Creed Valhalla

 

A full half of sales on one next gen console, g'damn.

Thanks for the brightness link, I’m finally going to start it and the contrast still wasn’t right but this seems to do it pretty well, I bumped the last level all the way up. Didn’t think it would work because it’s like asking you to just ignore the settings but ya.

lol I had to watch the RE7 recap because i only played around in the beginning a few times in vr and then I hated psvr because it’s so finicky and uncomfortable so I never went back, hope it would come to pc which never happened. But anyway, is that really all that happened in Re7? Doesn’t seem like a lot!

Played 2 more hours today. It was good but not nearly as entertaining as the first 3 hours. I'm in the Castle solving a few puzzles and upgrading my guns. The visuals are very nice inside the Castle. Overall, I'm not blown away by any means just pleased.

 

I hope it picks up soon. I'll only get to play it tomorrow then I'm going camping until Sunday.

Ok fine yeah I guess this game looks pretty damn next genny now. Yeah it really has great texture and asset variety and the lighting may not be Exodus enhanced good but still just some of the best there is. And yeah, just great art, really gorgeous looking, oh and great mocap.

 

I realized what gets me with the crops is how they have like 5 frames of animation and there is no effect around them or anything they look so damn cheap it’s distracting especially when the lighting is so good it’s like uncanny valley. 

 

Just got to the castle now but this is definitely much better than the demos made me think. Terrible demos. Yeah, now I see this is a big dumb non open world cinematic action game with set pieces and I’m totally here for it rn.

My son and I have started referring to Ethan as a flex tape style walking advertisement for whatever is in the first aid liquid. "Watch as I saw this arm clean off. With a little first aid it is good as new."

Just finished my first hardcore playthrough. In-game timer says 11 hours, but Steam says 17.7. I haven't really left this game open very much, and I don't think the timer counts menu time or retries after death, so I'm assuming my actual completion time is about 15 hours. And I didn't get everything. Kind of bummed some areas become inaccessible, but more for me to find on my second playthrough!

 

Fantastic fucking game from beginning to end. No boring or shitty parts like in RE7 with the ship area, which I only kind of started to like on maybe my 6th playthrough when I just really got into mowing enemies down and had the area memorized. Great, satisfying ending that makes me really want to see where the series is going next, but is also NOT a cliffhanger, which surprised me. Although the very final shot has me very curious, as it lingers for a bit and I'll want to talk about that more later.

 

Great unlocks at the end as well! Remember to USE YOUR GOOD GUNS. Don't play this game just plinking away with the little shitty pistol while stockpiling shit. Blow the fuck out of enemies, that's the fun! There's plenty of ammo and as usual boss rooms will always have ammo spawn after set amounts of time so you won't be boning yourself. I went wild with the magnum in the factory and it was fucking awesome. DON'T HOARD. DESTROY.
