See above. As in how it will ACTUALLY run I'm hearing not so good on the last gen consoles. Well according to @stepee

We shall see. I'm hoping it plays well on my One X. :s

Really!

This is hands down the only game I care about this year and I'm torn. I'm not in possession of a PS5 or SeriesX and as time goes by i'm ok with that! Never thought I'd say that but I am. So......on PC is where I need this game and looks like that's a ways down the road? I'm sure the 280Ti could play the game like it's supposed to be played and no having shit spoiled accidently after launch becomes a maze. I do not know anything about this game right now, except it's main protagonists is a very tall woman and it has werewolves!

well never mind, I spoke again before checking! I thought I heard awhile back that PC version was a ways away after launch, it's not! It's April8th.

I can't tell if this is going to be good.  I liked 7 okay, but am still not sold on first person RE.  It was novel in VR, but otherwise I vastly preferred the remakes of 2 and 3.  If it truly is a modern successor to 4 gameplay-wise, then oh baby, but I'm very confused about it for some reason.  We'll see next week.

I'm really looking forward to it but I also agree with everything you said. The first person switch never did it for me. I get it for VR but I also wish this had gone back to third person.

Yea I'm with you on this as well. I prefer the 3rd person view for RE games. For VR it was cool but other than that, no. In fact, I'm disliking anything in first person these days.

They do perspectives / games in bunches of 3 so there was no way they were going back to 3rd person for this.

1,2,3 - Fixed camera

4,5,6 - Over the shoulder 3rd person

7,8, (9?) - First person perspective

Good observation. I'll still play and hopefully love 8 but I hope it runs ok for me on my Xbox one x.

I love both first and third-person RE, so there's no significant difference to me. To me, a huge ass character taking up 1/3rd of the screen doesn't magically make the game better, and the camera's so zoomed in it's not like you get a better view peripheral view, either. Always seemed like a kind of weird thing to get hung up about, but I guess I personally despise isometric viewpoints so maybe it's like that.

RE 1-3 were third person fixed camera

Then a perspective shift

RE 4-6 were third person over the shoulder

Then a perspective shift

RE 7 and 8 are first person, so 9 will probably be too

We'll get another perspective shift again, and...

Resident Evil 10 will be a third person isometric game. You heard it here first!

I think the demo is out on XBO/XSX. Does anyone know if its timed? I want to download it on both my One X and Series S and see which runs better.

I thought the demos sucked dick with terrible performance issues? I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. Just wait for digital foundry to hook you up with your question.

It's timed, all the demos are timed. It should be 60 minutes for both areas that were released separately on the Playstation first.

The timer is tied to your account so if you have an alt account you can play (compare) longer.

true but in 3rd person you do get a little better view of what’s next to you and to an extent what’s behind you. Even if it’s only a foot or two I enjoy being pulled back from the action a bit. I also generally dislike isometric games but I don’t know why haha

I'm always gaming with headphones so I guess I generally already know if an enemy is nearby, RE is pretty good about accurate sound so I rarely feel like anything has snuck up on me, but yeah for me I actually just enjoy that there's a bit of variety now with each RE. I was getting real worried after 5 and 6, but not with 7, RE2 and RE3 (although 3 got the short end of the stick, it still wasn't bad) it seems like a great time to enjoy RE no matter which style you like.

The performance is pretty great! You definitely get to easily max this out including RT 4k/60 w a 3080, a 3070 could probably bump vrs and do 1800p or something. I went with 1800p, maxed options with vrs on balanced and was getting like 90-120, nice seeing a game run that well with some RT action.

Sweet. I'm ready for this. My 3080 is ready. :D

I tested out both graphics settings on both the Series S and the Xbox One X. The performance is okay on the Series S with raytracing disabled, but I honestly think the way I'll be going is with the 1080p/60fps on the One X. The raytracing looks good, but from what I played of the demo, it's not worth the performance hit. Same with 4K/30 on the One X. The extra resolution isn't worth the degraded performance. It was better in the castle, but the village was rough.

You know how there are some games that run at 30fps, but it's not really that big of a deal? Village is not one of those games. I'd be willing to bet it wasn't even hitting 30 in the outdoor village area.

I'm holding out hope that Capcom will patch in a 1080p/60 for Series S. The fact it's not there is definitely a headscratcher.

EDIT: That comparison video shows the Series S running at 60fps with RT turned off, but it really didn't seem like 60 to me.

Thank you. I'll play 1080p/60fps on my X as well.

DF says the game runs great on the Series S. It's running 1440p 60fps. I would do that over 1080p 60fps.

I really enjoyed RE7 in first person. It doesn't matter if it's 3rd or 1st I have enjoyed all perspectives with RE. Looking forward to going back to first person view after RE2 and RE3 remake.

If that's true, that's awesome. I was going by Capcom's own chart that showed it was either 1440p/30 with RT, or 1440p/45 without. If they managed to get it to 60, that sounds good to me.

DF talks about it in the video. They say Capcom has it at 45 fps but they didn't cap the frame rate and so far from the demo the Series S has the power to hit 60 fps easy. They did mention that may vary maybe later in the game but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
