Surprising nobody, this box is enormous and I will likely never finish painting as my hobby backlog is tremendous. I will wait on buying the codex for either faction as I assume they’ll be updated shortly?

Maybe I should make a separate thread dedicated solely to my painting misadventures...

The near future, I suspect?

It's hard to say because of Covid but I'd imagine the first codex would be Space Marines followed by Necrons. I'd imagine within the next at most 6 months at most they'd be updated.

I'd just need Codex Eldar and Dark Eldar. Though with covid I don't think my friends and I are gonna play anytime soon. Still building up solar aux but I need to work on my hobby space. I got one of those G9 samsung monitors and it takes up so much space I can't leave my lamp on my table.

Interesting, I’d assumed Necrons would be first up since their codex is older, but I’ve been invested in 40K for < 1 week now so what the hell do I know :p

Space Marines are the most popular army so they will always get a codex first. Also you shouldnt need the dexes right this moment. The starter sets include a "get you by" unit rulebook. It won't have rules for things not in the boxset but it's enough to play a small points game vs another player.

It's a fun game but I find the current editions too simple but I am a strategy game nerd. Like I miss individual pain tokens for Dark Eldar from 5th edition.

Yeah, just thinking aloud, I don’t plan on getting new plastic for a bit. It’s not like I can go to my FLGS and play anyway, so it’d be roping my buddies or in laws into playing with me at my house using paint pots and tissue boxes as terrain, so... whatever :p

Curious to see what happens to Kill Team and if I could roll some of these figs into squads for that.

You should be able to. The only problem would be the new units since they won't have kill team rules though they should be able to just carry them over.

Current GW has gone back to their old ways. So kill team is meant as a way to keep people that like small skirmish sci-fi games while at the same time giving people a place to get started in 40k. It's in part why specialist games is a thing. Don't want to pay 1k plus for a Titan maniple buy Adeptus Titanicus. Want dogfights in the 41st millenium Aeronautica Imperialis has you covered.

I am waiting for Battlefleet Gothic.God i wish I could play.

Are they making a new version of that?

And I kinda wonder what will happen to Kill Team since 9th ed seems more compatible with smaller scale battles though again... what do I know?

That's a burning question that's been asked by a lot of Kill Team players since the revelation of Combat Patrol for the New Edition, especially since GW's support for Kill Team in the last year has been lacking.

This virus stuff has got to end. I've been watching hours of 40k lore videos hoping they don't awaken something in me, and I feel my resolve to not get into Warhammer weakening.

That's EXACTLY where I'm at too!

Warhammer 40K lore is so very awesomely stupid/stupidly awesome that it's hard to NOT want to get more deeply involved in the hobby!

Still have yet to clip a sprue lel

I finished grinding the Soviet tank tree in Warthunder and have hit hobbying hard. Assembled a Gun-EZ, dipped my toes into tank modeling, (got a T-34/ 85 mod 1944 and a T-80U), and am painting my thallax and horusnheresy Dark Angels.

Warthunder is such a grind and the amount of whaling needed to get it done in a reasonable amount of time kinda burned me out on gaming. Also my friend raised a good point video gaming isn't entirely going away but my physical ability to make models and paint is limited.

I do need to come up with a schedule though. Right now I assemble while I work though its hard to do that with resin or tank models. The tank kits have super small pieces had to rebuy the t34 since I lost the end of the barrel and the rear hatch's handle.

Nice. I broke my leg about 8 weeks ago and despite it being the perfect sedentary hobby.... not painted at all in that time and my Indomitus box is still 100% sprued.

Problem is that gaming is generally instant gratification. I don't think I'd be this motivated if my depression wasn't acting up a bit and War Thunder. It's fun once you are fully upgraded in a tank but the grind to unlock vehicles and upgrade them is insane. I have fun now that I have a variety of fully upgraded tanks but my desire to grind another line is pretty dead. It also got me back because I am a socialist and all the cool Soviet tanks broke me. Lol
