The first project is a “AAA multi-platform game” already in pre-production, the company said on Thursday, while the second is a “smaller-scale” project set in the same franchise. Both projects are being developed on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight game engine and tools.

The games will be released for next-gen consoles and PC in “the next few years,” Remedy said. The Finnish studio will retain ownership of the unannounced games’ IP, while revenue will be split with the publisher.

The projects will be released under Epic Games Publishing, a new multiplatform publishing effort with a developer-first approach.

Developers retain 100% of all intellectual property and full creative control of their work. Epic Games Publishing will cover up to 100% of development costs, from developer salaries to go-to-market expenses such as quality assurance, localization, marketing, and all publishing costs.

It will have 50-50 profit sharing. Epic said developers will earn a fair share for their work. Once costs are recouped, developers earn at least 50% of all profits.

Epic gets a lot of well deserved hate, but those terms seem pretty generous. Allowing devs to retain IP is a big deal.

They get a lot of hate, but not for things like this. If they're getting out there, making deals happen, getting games made, that's great. They should focus more on things like this and less on trying to arbitrarily carve out exclusivity for a poorly designed storefront. And make a better storefront while they're at it.

I gotta finish Control and maybe muster the time and play Alan Wake as well. Liked reading what I have of AW in the files you find throughout the game Control. I wonder if some characters will crossover in AW2?

Have you ever seen the movie In The Mouth Of Madness?
