I ignored him. Fuck should I start over? What options did you pick to make it even easier?

It's a bit difficult to tell you. I would have to have my game up to read it off.

If I were you, yes, I'd start over if you plan on playing this for an extended period of time.

There aren't many options to change but the ones that are available I took advantage of.

Damn. I didn't realize you're 4 hours in. I mean you might be completely fine. You're experienced in RPG's and if you are doing ok 4 hours in you're probably fine.

Let me know what the easy options were when you find out

I don't think I can see those options anymore. Even legend said once you start the game you cannot go back to even see the options.

Instead of selecting explorer for the difficulty you go all the way to the right and select custom difficulty. Then once you're in there you can change settings.

You guys are confusing the hell out of me. :p

The patch was also for XSX so I'm good to go.

Yes, all platforms will get the patch. Not all platforms get it at the same time. This is why people don't like game pass for PC and just buy the game in steam because the windows store version is generally the inferior version.

That being said as of now the windows store version did get a patch so I would assume the console version has gotten a patch by well.

I'm just saying if you assumed the game was patched at the time you wrote all that, and it was not, you'd be like, "this patch doesn't do anything"

Xbox is kind of weird some games get patched automatically and some you have to do through the dashboard, so if you really want to check, check the dashboard for updates.

Thank you. I'll check in a few minutes. I never knew about what you just explained so thanks.

There were back to back patches on Steam. So a second patch was released today.

Yep.

"here is on fixing bugs present in six different missions, with additional error corrections also thrown into the FPS game for good measure".

Really impressive that they've been this fast in fixing a lot of the issues.

OK, I’ve opened up about 60% of the Zone areas and have banked around 75,000 coupons. I have some fully kitted out guns Assault riffle, combat shotgun, and of course Skif’s pistol. Not top tier weapons but both my rifle and pistols have a suppressor so a head popping, troop dropping I go! I have a combat suit and and exo suit so I have options for gear depending on my goals. Lastly I have amassed a LARGE amount of food, ammo, and meds. It’s time to start hunting for some serious Artifacts because all of mine are at best just OK. Despite the warts, I love this game!

What's your opinion on the gun play? Are you keyboard and mouse?

I’m 100% controller unless there isn’t an option. As for the gun play, it’s good, but the enemy AI is to all knowing and crazy accurate even when firing from the hip. That needs tweaking.

Ok. That was my take on it too. Very accurate enemies who spot you from 100 yards away. When turning on aim assist it still was difficult for me to kill enemies.

It’s critical to get good at head shot whenever possible or close ground using cover to point blank them with a shotty.

Well, despite all the issues, and boy does this game have issues, I think it might be my GOTY. Until this last week, I thought my GOTY would be Skald: Against The Black Priory, but I believe STALKER 2 has edged it out, if only for the crazy amount of content it offers. Its no exaggeration to call it "Gun based Skyrim" and in terms of shear size, its likely bigger. GSC has delivered a vast and deadly world, where you can pick factions, be "this" grey guy or "that" grey guy (there is no good and evil in STALKER), and just get lost out in the zone! Sure, there is a story, and yes periodically you'll move it long to advance access to better gear or new areas, but just like Skyrim, you'll spend most of your time just exploring the world and doing side quests while you gear up and build your fortunes. I love this kind of game play! I can't even count the amount of times I've had a plan in my mind, grabbed the gear and supplies I need for said plan and headed out only to discover that the plan has gone pear shaped, I have to approach the problem differently, and in the end I return to camp burnt, bruised, armor and guns busted up, but with a sack full of lute to sell. That loop has spawned countless genuinely emergent (mis)adventures! I LOVE IT! :sun: Now GSC, Please patch the ever living shit out of this game!

Great to hear you really enjoyed it even with it's technical issues.

It's a game I definitely plan to play and enjoy with a few more patches.

Well, this explains quite a bit!

Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World explains for the first time what went wrong with A-Life 2.0, and why it was removed from the game’s description on Steam.

Quote

GSC Game World creative director Maria Grygorovych shows me a message on her phone. It’s proof, she says, that she’s telling me the truth about Stalker 2’s A-Life 2.0 system. The message is about why mention of A-Life 2.0 was pulled from Stalker 2’s Steam page and replaced with a generic description about the way AI works in the game. It turns out that Maria found out the description had changed when she saw players complaining about it on Reddit.

Stalker 2 launched late last month to a positive reception on Steam and one million sales. It’s a success for the Ukrainian studio, a miracle, really, considering the harrowing circumstances that followed Russian’s full-scale invasion of the country in 2022. Stalker 2 suffers from well-documented bugs; GSC knows this and is working as hard as it can to fix them. But it’s A-Life 2.0 — or its apparent absence — that has gained the most attention from fans.

A-Life was a key feature of the first Stalker game that governed AI behavior across the game world. At a high level, it is a system for simulating life in the Zone that works its magic seemingly independently of the player’s actions or whereabouts. It helps to create convincing AI and the emergent gameplay Stalker is famous for.

GSC had said A-Life 2.0 would make the Zone feel alive as never before, that it would fuel emergent gameplay on a scale previously thought impossible. Indeed for some fans, A-Life 2.0 was Stalker 2’s biggest selling point. Unfortunately, now Stalker 2 is out in the wild, A-Life 2.0 hasn’t quite lived up to that billing.

In fact, it feels as if A-Life 2.0 isn’t even in the game. Players have found little evidence to suggest anything approaching a life simulation is in operation at any scale, with NPCs and enemies spawning around the player and sometimes in obvious ways. This, players have said, lends Stalker 2 a more scripted feel than its predecessor, with emergent gameplay sorely lacking.

So, what happened? GSC CEO Ievgen Grygorovych and creative director Maria Grygorovych offer an explanation during our interview, which takes place at BAFTA in Piccadilly, London following a screening of War Game: The Making of Stalker 2. The 90-minute documentary, which includes interviews with GSC’s Ukrainian staff as they contend with the invasion, reveals the remarkable circumstances surrounding the extremely difficult development of Stalker 2.

It’s with this in mind that Ievgen and Maria explain what went wrong with A-Life 2.0, revealing for the first time how the studio's battle to optimize the performance of Stalker 2 in the months before release caused the feature to break down. A-Life 2.0 is in Stalker 2, the pair insist, it’s just bugged. Massively bugged.

When? Console too?

The third patch is more of a set of fairly specific bug fixes, and will do little to enhance performance.  Given the article wade posted, this game will spend another year in a patching cycle before its ready for its game of the year edition! :p

Well it's not like GSC churns out game after game, they will be working on this one for a while.

Which is kinda lame to be honest. What ever happened to making games that were finished for release lol?

It seems only Nintendo does that anymore.

When Stalker 2, from Ukrainian developer GSC Game World, was released last month after multiple delays, it sold exceptionally well but received a mixed reaction from critics due mainly to issues with its performance and bugs.

However, another delay simply wasn't an option for the team, which found itself exhausted at the end of a long development during a time of war.

Speaking to Eurogamer this week, GSC Game World studio CEO Ievgen Grygorovych compared the game's development and delays to running multiple marathons. "It's very hard to explain your state when you're in a very intensive work process for many months until release, and you're working over, over, over what you usually can do and in the highest possible stress and overwhelming period," he said.

"You have no energy at all and you decide - should we take one more marathon? And you just can't say yes, let's make one more marathon, because you're already broken."

Even with more time to polish the game, there was never a time where everything was fixed, added Grygorovych. And with the end of the year and its key sales period looming, the decision was made to continue on and release Stalker 2 in the best state possible.

"You're so tired that you would just die if you say let's run an additional marathon," said Grygorovych. "We didn't have a chance to say let's do it more. We just had a chance of 'let's do until this moment - the release date - as much as we can'." After that, further patches and story expansions can then always be added, he continued.

Well I do forgive this particular situation and the obstacles they faced.

And they have been excellent with patches so early on.

I put the game down last week as with all of the hype for PoE2, I decided to play PoE and am having a great time with it.

I'm really going to wait for A-Life because right now the random spawns are really annoying.
