What are you playing today?

Recommended Posts

Mass Effect - I started my play through over. I tried the femshep but I missed maleshep too much. Now I’m deciding between Vanguard or Infiltrator as the class to play.

Destroy All Humans! - It’s a perfect game pass game with quick resume.  It’s easy to knock out a mission and move on to something else

Psychonauts - It has been forever since I played it so I wanted to do a quick replay before 2.

How does it look and run on your XSX?

Again, I'm still playing Village. I can't stress this enough that the in-game timer is fucked. I have easily put 20 hours into it and it reads 13.5 hours played. No way from pausing, crafting etc did that take up 7 hours of play time. Something is wrong with it. I'm specifically speaking of the console version. Steam might be more accurate. I'm supposedly very close to beating it but I don't believe that anymore lol.

Finished Classic Mode for Bloodstained. Short, enjoyable but at times annoying (makes you want to say they should make the controls, especially for jumping more annoying just to be extra "classic" but of course they did that with 1986 Mode which I'm staying very far away from). I'm not interested in Boss Rush, Boss Revenge or Randomizer Mode so I'm done with Bloodstained.

I'm planning to play Portal Reloaded next.

Just getting in to RE Village, i am a giant poon when it comes to horror games so this may take awhile .

Well the game clock for me said something like 14 hours and 23 min. It was much longer than that. I'd say it's a 20+ hour game and it's fantastic. I literally just beat it this evening. So it's a meaty game imo.

Finished Disco Elysium on Saturday morning. Went right back to Shadow Tactics on Hardcore.

I really have to buy something new and stop playing this game. I guess Desperados III. Also was supposed to get Returnal from a friend for $20 but he bailed so that's not happening, not buying that at full price.

I thought the demo was really underwhelming so I'm torn. I'm sure it's good and most of you seem to be into it, just hasn't been a priority. Also I rarely buy Day 1.

Oh, ok. Yea, forget the demos and eventually play this game. It's very good and one hell of a ride! They should have never released the demos in the first place. It's definitely worth the price of admission but if you're good to wait for a price drop that's cool.

I'm not even sure if it's the game's fault per say but after spending major time in RE2R and then RE3R and also RE7, I'm not sure I can deal with more of that bullet sponge-y 'hit the annoyingly bobbing head!' combat for a fourth game in a row. I don't know yet though, might pick it up soon anyway, I want to play something new. Been bleeding my few backlog games dry.

It doesn't necessarily have bullet sponge-y hit the annoying bobbing head as bad as I remember from previous RE games. I played on normal and enemies went down quick with headshots. It has a little bit of what you're talking about but overall it's good combat. If you're looking something new and I know you just played Disco Elysium this would be a nice breakaway.

I kind of thought it'd be cool to play some Action-y popcorn Horror after Disco Elysium as well. That game is Existential Dread: The Game haha

They are definitely spongy on hardcore. If you play Mercs mode you see enemies have a certain amount of hit points, headshots don't really mean anything, except like 20 more damage, barring any crits. Lycans, are certainly more "head bobby" though their bob is just lateral movement.

True. Playing on hardcore changes what I said. I'd play on normal because it was consistently fun throughout without any frustration. The combat was completely fine on normal.

I ended up not buying anything and instead went for a replay of The Last Of Us on Grounded. Starting that game over while knowing the internal stealth rules and better gameplay tactics from the get-go has been pretty cool feeling.

Nothing wrong with replaying that game. Did you ever play part 2?

Not yet. I'll probably buy it during this current sale and then play it when I'm done with the first one on Grounded. If I end up being able to handle it, seems tough right now.
