What are you playing today?

First time playing RDR2? I’d like to hear your opinion.

Yes.  At this point I've only played Chapter 1 (which seems to be mostly tutorial).  So I don't really have a solid opinion yet.

1)  Game is very pretty (probably not Assassin's Creed pretty but seems to have more lighting effects, etc.)

2)  It is very demanding on PC, so my framerate is lower than I would like (currently only at high 30s at 1440p)

3)  Very cinematic (like you would expect from Rockstar) -- and they do a very good job of eliminating the downtime in missions by filling it with chatter/conversation

4)  Story/characters seem very fleshed out -- they have me more engaged with them than in any other game I have played recently

My concerns so far:

1)  Controls seem overly complicated.  It feels like they have removed many of the "quality of life" simplifications that other open world games have implemented.

2)  Shooting (playing with controller) feels very much like a Rockstar game from 2009 -- I think they could do more to make the combat a whole lot more fun.

2)  They slow down the movement in missions way too much, preventing me from galloping and running when I want to.

I haven't really hit the open world so far -- but I am having too much fun being a cowboy to let the concerns bother me too much.  However, I can see my opinion changing once I get 20 hours in.

I don't know what I want to play. In one of those ruts where nothing is really clicking at the moment. Not into Outer Worlds like I thought I would be. Maybe I'll play some more Ruiner this weekend.

ME FRIGGIN TOO!

so I finally had to give back my friends switch after playing so much Zelda and it was too good that I don’t even want to look at my marvellous backlog.  Thinking I just need something fun so might end it picking up uncharted 4.  Zelda made me wanna game so hard, especially tonight but I don’t want to play anything else.  Weirdest rut.

Also so tempted with outer worlds but 75 percent of u say it sucks

Picked Skyward Sword back up after not playing games for a few weeks at all. Really really enjoy this game, I'm currently about to finish up the Ancient Cistern dungeon I think. There's just a magic to Zelda, and Nintendo games in general, that just always makes them a joy to play.

I haven’t played a Nintendo game since n64 days and when my friend lent me his switch back in early September, there are no words for the joy botw gave me.  I should really just find someone with a wii and play to old ones

COD - new patch made the game so much better

BFV - the pacific has turned this game around. The new maps are amazing

Luigis Mansion - This is fun in short bursts, but it hasn’t really sunk its hooks into me. The gameplay is a little dull, but the atmosphere and Nintendo charm are there.

I'll be continuing with the stressful fun of Resident Evil 2 and balance it out with Overwatch. Although, I do have Arkham Knight to finish and the temptation is to absolutely marathon it so I can polish it off (as it would be nice to play RE2 with my wife and then try out Nioh).

I'm in the same boat - I've been playing through the Zelda games, and am about 15 hours in Twilight Princess HD.  I've basically only been playing Nintendo games for the past few months and I'm having a hard time wanting to go back to anything else.  I also just started Luigi's Mansion 3 and that game just oozes joy and creativity.  Nintendo seems to know how to make every minute detail in their games fun and interesting.  I remember booting up Mario Odyssey for the first time and being blown away by how it felt just to move Mario around.  I can't think of any other game where the movement by itself was a total blast.

Yeah, I’m just gonna take one of my friend Wii u and go to town.  Speaking of smooth feeling of movement. Last night I picked up uncharted 4.  These are fun games but man is the character movement trash.  Just seems so dated.

Finished up the weekend with some Ruiner NG+ and then fired up Doom 2016 to finish up getting the achievements because sometimes you just need a little bit of the ultra violence. Well Ruiner is pretty violent too.

Might have to pre-order Doom Eternal. Doom just scratches that itch where sometimes shotguns to faces is just what you need.

Been playing Outer Worlds... just got to the third world. Games is okay and fun sometimes, but I'm glad I got it as part of gamepass. It's basically a slightly better playing, better looking Fallout.

Yeah don’t know if it was worth the $60 I dropped on it. I’ve played it a lot though. It scratches a certain type of itch.

I started out playing The Evil Within II, but then I began thinking about how I never beat Shadows of the Damned.

I decided to try an finish it since it was the spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4 and the spiritual predecessor to The Evil Within (and it's been in my backlog for ages).

Streamed it for three hours and not a single viewer! :dancing:

I'm aiming to finish Arkham Knight soon, not because I want it to be over, but because I want to really commit to RE2. It has been good though, maybe they patched it, but so far I've not felt the drone sections feel intrusive.

I'm going to wait until the December PS+ games are released, then either play that, or start to work through my two accounts worth of games, whilst I have time at least.
