She'll likely be OK. With the labor conditions as they are, she'll find a job paying close to what she makes, maybe more; if the mandates "take" there is going to be a lot of under the table money passed along to those that are interested in doing (much like the undocumented worker).

You know the Onion is a satirical site, right?

I do now (thank you sir/ma'am/person), not familiar with Onion; also didn't catch the site when reading the clipped post (I see it now).

I did think the job that was mentioned was silly and wondered why she would go that route, but left it to each their own. So it got me, but my point still stands.

Possibly. Don't know or care either way though.

Have something against people with disabilities?

I've worked with kids and adults with all kinds of physical and mental disabilities. I give no fucks about calling out assholes regardless of their disability.

If they have to emulate being a decent person then so be it. They can learn.

From time to time I have to do so for work; I take all the advised precautions. Plus when I do, I'm usually making people lives easier or keeping people in jobs; I'm a welcomed visit.

However, if they eliminated airline travel for people like me, I would oblige.

Well, almost all the advised precautions..

Its funny how much people trust without knowing it. That elevator that I just used that was inspected and certified? Trusting those people know what they are doing.

That car that I drive? Trusting all the safety shit works without knowing the ins and outs of it. The electrical wiring in my house? Hope it works cause I didn't lay the wiring.

Society is so complex that it is impossible to know everything about everything and you are just gonna have to put your trust in the experts.

You quantified your reasoning to not get vaccinated earlier by saying the science and math align with your opinion, and you don't see how getting vaccinated would benefit the greater good.

This data (a five second google search away) proves that your claim is false, even as far as the delta variant is concerned (and yes, 66% effectiveness is still a dramatic improvement over no vaccination at all) .

Here is what we know about how well the major Covid-19 vaccines perform against the Delta variant, both in terms of preventing infection and preventing serious illness.

You now have no excuse to be willfully ignorant. If you still choose to not get vaccinated, you're objectively doing so out of a personal truth with a flawed and demonstrably harmful premise that's putting yourself and people around you in jeopardy and contributing to Covid mutating and being harder to deal with.  Believe what you want, but almost all the points you've made in this thread are operating from feels over reals reasoning, and that's why your takes here are getting pushback. ^_^

I worry that these pills will just further encourage selfish assholes to not get vaccinated.

I spent a lot of energy arguing with anti-vaxxers on other boards and have come to the conclusion that it's completely and utterly pointless. Their brains are not wired in the same way. The harder you push, the more they entrench in their opinions.

No amount of actual information or reason or anything will convince them. They are just wired differently. Most of them show a  level of self-absorption and a lack of human empathy that is truly frightening.

Naw, I don't generally don't operate on feels, its a waste of energy and leads you to making rushed decisions most of the time. I like to take my time and study the information; I give all points opportunities. In this case, the numbers state I'll likely be alright; that's just not something that can be refuted with all the current data available. This allows me time to investigate the information as it comes.

Just curious of you all, if you have to get six month or yearly boosters to stay classified as "vaccinated" would you? (Fauci on the number of boosters... unknown 7:00)

Even beyond that, would you have if you didn't get the shot at the time of little information. Been reading back through, you all were definitely thinking (celebrating) no mask, removed restrictions, no catching, no passing, etc...

I would get a booster EVERY GODDAMNED MINUTE OF THE DAY to say classified as vaccinated.

Out of all the baffling shit in the last two pages, the fact someone under like 50 doesn't know what The Onion is in 2021 is the wildest to me. I'm dieing to find out how that could've happened.

Its not something I've every clicked, its likely that I've seen articles posted but thought the content was silly so I skipped over it. I don't really do "the internet." What I go to is fairly curated; financial news, supply chain | operations news, video game news, and funny racist sites.

I've had my booster for over a month!

See that's just crazy to me.

But I've never taken a flu shot, I don't really do medicine (like I said, taking a generic Tylenol while I had Covid was the first time since 2008), its just not something I've had to do. ~2 gal of water, prescribed D2, Vitamin C, and Niacin (flushing), and Zinc (occasionally) is my daily regiment, and its work well for 15 years; usually only get sick when I miss it (makes since, I've conditioned my body to need the input).

So to sign up to need something from the government to stay "healthy", I'm not interested; once you are in, you can't get out. One and done (or at least an end in sight), I'd be OK with. When that comes, and other issues have been vetted, I'll roll up my sleeve.
