I see this all the time. "You can still catch it and spread it if you're vaxxed, so there's no point!"

I didn't read this article, but yeah, vaccinated people are way way less likely to catch and/or spread it. By like a factor of 10.

No, the vaccines aren't perfect, but they do offer quite a bit of protection beyond simply making sure you don't die if you catch COVID... which is kind of what the narrative has shifted to... but it's not really correct at all.

The extent to which right wing media is willing to make blood sacrifices of its own ranks is truly bizarre.

Their new campaign strategies don’t require an actual electorate or things like ‘votes’ so it makes sense when you think about it.

the entire NY nation guard is 16,000 personnel, at most 20% are medically trained if I had to guess, so best case scenario is that will be 3000 people that are most likely already working medical jobs that they are going to be pulled off of.

Current estimates are 70,000+ people are going to be fired tonight for not being vaxed. It is going to be an absolute cluster fuck.

edit - had the wrong numbers originally

Nearly all of them are just going to get vaccinated. Very few people are actually willing to relocate across country for a job and there also isn't a ton of other not-nurse work that certified nurses can do that's also in high demand but isn't for shitty retail or restaurant pay.

It's like the Massachusetts State Police. They're also under a vaccine mandates and the union threatened folks were going to quit over it. In the end, like 20 of the 2000-man force may have resigned, but really just retired. None of those people were going to give up their pensions over this.

Also, only one trooper has retired / resigned.

Governor Charlie Baker issued an order in August requiring that all state workers under the governor’s control, including state troopers, be fully vaccinated or claim a personal, medical, or religious exemption by Oct. 17.

my fiance works for a major hospital in the area, they are firing/retiring 15% of their staff tonight and that is after the religious exemptions.

A bunch of the NY health employees due to be fired apparently caved at the last minute.

I am shocked to hear that people weren't willing to move from New York to Florida over this vaccine. I'm also shocked they weren't willing to work at one of the thousands of restaurants in the state that are struggling to stay open as nobody is seems to be willing to work for less than minimum wage in the middle of a pandemic. Shocked.

Thousands of healthcare workers in New York faced getting vaccinated against COVID-19 or losing their jobs received at least one dose as Gov. Kathy Hochul’s statewide mandate neared, according to...

I wonder how many of these would have been willing to be on unemployment to see if the state came back begging for them to return.

The state's vaccine mandate for healthcare workers goes into effect on Monday, potentially causing staffing shortages at some healthcare facilities as thousands of people are not eligible to work.
