I don't believe in an afterlife, nor do I believe that any reckoning is coming in this life, but if there is any justice in this world the Trump/Abbott/DeSantis/Carlson axis of evil bunch will die alone with no one to mourn them.

The longer I live, the more I find myself sympathizing with stories of political figures being put in front of firing squads in public squares. Some crimes just deserve nothing less than barbaric revenge. That's a show I'd pay well for.

In short, in the  Ḥadīth under review, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be  on him) has, on the one hand, taught parents to have  the foresight and wisdom to provide, so far as it lies in their power, for the subsistence of their children, and  not to leave their dependents unsupported, and to make provision for their honorable living; and on the other, incidentally, has hinted by means of this  Ḥadīth, that employment of overt means, in this behalf, does not, in any way, militate  against the sense and spirit of tawakkul. One should, therefore,  first take all the necessary measures  so  far  as  it  lies  in  one’s  power  and  is  permitted  by one’s resources, and then leave the result to  God. No doubt, as I have stated above, it is a very difficult stand, for man is prone to over-incline to one side on account of his weakness; he either  becomes so much devoted to overt means as to make them his god, or in utter defiance of these, he pins all his hope  on  God,  so  much so  that  he  believes  that, notwithstanding his complete rejection  of the material means that God has  made,  He  will nevertheless descend from the High Heavens to personally handle all his affairs. But the truth is that both these stands are untenable and contrary to the spirit of Islāmic teaching. The true philosophy which the virtuous in  every age have followed lies in the observance of the maxim “Tether thy camel first and then leave her to the care of God.”

It's an Islamic text but relevant to these anti-vaxx people. The vaccine, masks, and social distancing and precautions are the tether in this case.

I agree. I have my moments of 'yeah fuck you!' glee but ultimately most of these people got played by a completely callous system and leave complete familial destruction in their wake. Personal responsibility and all, yeah, but still, nobody wins and said system keeps mainlining these people straight destruction and death.

Yeah. And they're lucky to have gotten to the $10k goal they've set but.... That seems wholly inadequate

Politicians across the board must love the fact that they've tricked the American public into thinking begging online is more dignified and personal freedom than having a functioning healthcare system.

Well, anti-vax has finally hit home. I mentioned it here before, but we took in my wife's 18-year-old niece a month or so ago as her mom would no longer let her live in her house for free while she upgraded some classes to prepare for university. Today, the niece got a text from her 14-year-old brother, asking for her to pick him up from school. We said she could, but only if he was vaccinated (which he is not), or if they both wore masks. My wife then got a call from her sister and was reamed out over an "experimental" vaccine, how we were sheep, how it "only" kills 1% of people, etc. Our niece's dad texted her and said how dare she listen to her "no[sic] nothing nutjob aunt" over her own parents.

 

Our niece is a good (if naïve and undereducated/ditzy) kid, and she's fully vaccinated and follows the news. Her parents are complete white trash, and unfortunately her brother is listening to them (I can't blame him, they are his parents). It's got to be very tough to start to see your parents as flawed, real people. We've told her it's not her fault that they are angry, and that she can throw us under the bus and put the blame on us. My wife is very upset, especially at her own sister saying she is tearing the family apart. No, you did that with your conspiracy nonsense. The sister even said something like "I know you have underlying conditions, but you'd be fine." Fuck off.

Man I have no empathy still. When black and brown kids are missing fathers due to systemic issues they tell is it's our fault and our problems and they ask why our community can't get our shit together. I really really don't give a shit anymore about people like this because I know of it was another AIDS epidemic, crack epidemic, great depression, they would be wagging their fingers at us. Same with the middle America drug abuse that was/is going on, I don't have enough fucks about white problems like this anymore. And I KNOW there are antivax Brown people, as far as I care they can burn with the rest of them.

I know PLENTY of black anti-vaxxers personally... I know people who have gotten vaccinated and are hesitant to get boosters or get their kids vaccinated because of online bullshit. Dealing with this in my family RIGHT NOW after my sister nearly got my parents infected when they went to visit her and her unvaccanated kids all got Covid. Luckily my parent were both vaccinated and didn't get it. Ironically my sister had just gotten her first shot after MONTHS of hesitency so she didn't get it either. In fact, no one who was vaccinated in that house got Covid. Her oldest daughter who is a nursing student not only didn't get Covid because she was vaccinated fully, she took over the quarantine protocols in the house and prevented it from spreading. My goofy assed nephews only got it because they used the one bathroom they weren't supposed to  use :|

 

There's a whole generation of Black people particularly under the age of 40 who are vaccine hesitant largely due to social media and misinformation.

BTW the guy who I mentioned in the earlier post who was the coworker of my buddy in Jacksonville who died because he refused to get vaccinated was black.

Yeah it's disgusting. I went to a barber and he did wear a mask but turns out he was vax hesitant. I was like 😐😐😐 since I realized this halfway through the haircut and he had knifes to my head.

 

Later we were talking about meat and I mentioned I love medium rare, he only likes well done but "as long as I don't make him sick" he would try medium rare. I was like, the fucking fool can't see the irony. He was overweight and definitely in a high risk category. Just an average dude who likes football and beer, nothing malicious, still a fool. (Great barber tho!)

 

Like, I get that there's misinformation out there, but.. are you going to do this, your whole life? My sister isn't vaxxed, so she's out until she is. No heart to humor these people. If my approach "makes them feel bad" then so be it. Get the fucking shot.

I remember having a conversation with a co-worker who was a conservative Christian and when I asked him why he was opposed to Obamacare at the time or Government funded healthcare in general he told me that it's not the Government's role to take care of people or something to that effect. He literally said that it was up to the "community" and charities to take care of the sick and needy :|

Yeah the medium rare thing with us is crazy too. My mother will fuck up a good cut of steak if you let her and over cook the shit out of it. I told her her steaks taste like flavored shoes... they have a thing against seeing any kind of red in their meat. Shit, i always order my steaks rare because most restaurants are going to overcook them anyway.

No one told him that the government is our form of community management. 

 

I go to the gym and and am one of the few people wearing masks, I definitely get some stares and judgement (all races), but while they judge and I squat 400lbs with a mask and they don't have shit to say and go from frowny faces to avoiding eye contact, no excuse for not wearing one. I fucking love lifting heavy in one. I feel like a monster.

I just assumed it was my Dad who had terrible taste in steak temps, but maybe this is a part of older Black culture? Now that I think about it, Granny is the same way…
