Waiting for my shot. I'm thinking I could never be a pharmacist. Like, there are times at work every once in a while where I'll accidentally run the wrong card, or give someone the wrong to go order, or cash out the wrong tab or whatever. Pharmacists must do that shit every so often, too, only it's like peoples medicine and they could like die

What are people saying right now, if anything, on covid shots becoming like flu shots in that you just get one every year?

I could see this being the case.  Hopefully it eventually mutates into something more benign.  BUT I won't put any money on that actually coming true.

Theoretically, like the flu or cold, it should be "benign" to the vast majority of the population from the vaccines we are getting now, just like we are all relatively immune to the worst effects of the flu (from past exposure). But, a booster each year (especially for vulnerable people) could happen, just like we do with the flu. But if we don't get boosters, we should all still be quite safe from severe illness, even if the virus mutates.

A bit of an overreaction if you ask me.

Agreed. Per wapo

The Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday they are reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the J&J vaccine. All six cases occurred among women between the ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms occurred six to 13 days after vaccination.

Six!

quite literally one in a million

I heard this one the news driving into work this morning and thought to myself 'the anti-vaxx crowd is gonna go wild'. As soon as I stepped near my office, I heard two of the place's resident Trump worshipers agitatedly rile each other up with 'told 'em! we're right'.

One in a million, that's what they WANT you to think.

I got the J&J shot and while I'm not worried and the risks are quite low, I don't think this is an overreaction at all considering this clotting issue and the problems J&J had with their production line. Also the clotting issue got pretty bad in Europe with the Astra Zeneca vaccine so I don't see anything wrong with being overly cautious ESPECIALLY considering how new these vaccines are and how fast they were developed. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm going for my second shot on Thursday, is this actually a thing?

No it's not and this is how bullshit misinformation is started...

The CDC advises you not take pain medications like Motrin, Advil or Tylenol before getting your COVID-19 vaccine.

You finally managed to score an appointment to be vaccinated against the new coronavirus and you're a little nervous about side effects, so taking a painkiller right before you get your shot seems like a smart idea.

Not so fast, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Instead, the agency is telling people not to take pain medications like Motrin, Advil or Tylenol before getting their COVID-19 vaccines.

Why?

It's possible that taking a painkiller before getting a vaccine will result in a "decrease in antibody response," explained Dr. Gregory Poland, director of the Vaccine Research Group at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Although the odds of a diminished immune response aren't really known, Poland said it's better to suffer the side effects than take the chance of making the vaccine less effective.

It's safe to take painkillers AFTER the shot though. I felt much better after I took some Bayer when I was experiencing side effects after my shot.

I mean, "pretty bad" in this case is 1 in 200,000.

I'd be curious to know what other factors are involved, as well, in the Adenovirus vaccines. In Canada, more than 500,000 AZ doses have been given out, and there hasn't been a case of blood clot yet

Yeah I would've asked the employees there anyway before going with D1P health advice, thanks for the links!
