AbsolutSurgen
CBC: Canada doesn't know how many more Moderna doses will be delivered, or why there are delays Quote Fortin said he had no idea just how many doses will be on hand by the end of the month, but he knows it will be less than expected. "I can't really tell you what the quantity will be. We don't expect to receive 249,000 at this time," he said. "We'll soon be able to share that with provinces, in confidence." While Pfizer has offered some explanation for why its shipments have been dramatically lower than expected — plant upgrades at a facility in Belgium caused deliveries to drop by 80 per cent — Fortin said Moderna hasn't said why it's had to put off tens of thousands of doses to a later delivery date. "They haven't shared the specific challenges that they may experience in their yields or in their production," Fortin said. "I think Moderna has indicated that they are, in good faith, trying their best to provide as many doses as possible." Quote Health Canada regulators are expected to approve another promising vaccine candidate — the product from AstraZeneca — in the "coming days," which could give a jolt to Canada's stalled vaccination campaign. But for that product, too, Fortin said he didn't know how many, if any, doses would be delivered in the coming weeks. Canada has fallen behind other developed nations in the number of shots administered per capita as supply disruptions derail planned vaccinations. According to data collated by the University of Oxford-based Our World in Data, Canada now ranks 33rd globally, well behind allies like the United States and the United Kingdom but also middle-income countries like Poland and Serbia. Canada's vaccination effort has also been outpaced so far by those in Bahrain, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and the United Arab Emirates, among dozens of others. jinx8402
Yup, time is a blur now. I looked it up and it is similar to the others. Pfizer took 20 days, Moderna was 17. J&J will be 22 days from the request to the fda review.

We do not believe there will be the need to start at square one with any of these products—we recognize we are in a pandemic and we need to arm health care providers with the most appropriate tools to fight this pandemic on the frontlines. b_m_b_m_b_m
My friend's child is 5 months old and in daycare. The kid has a cold now, and they found out one of the kids in the little ones classroom has covid. So their 5 month old probably has covid. So they're probably going to end up testing positive too. Just a shitty situation all around.
mclumber1
My wife's aunt has been on a ventilator for about a week now and her condition is not improving - to the point where the family has to start making decisions I guess. We were talking to my neighbor who has a lot of connections with the casinos on the strip and he mentioned that one hotel has lost something like 8 workers. My neighbor is just now getting over his own covid illness and he thought he might die at one point. Definitely shitty.

I know some people from Iowa. From what I understand, its pretty much going with the will of the people, as most of the state just won't obey the rules. They want their economy open and people to be able to pay bills. Its easy for those losing nothing to argue for stronger lockdowns. Many people are willing to choose personal danger over bankruptcy and poverty. Im in no way saying its right, but I am saying millions of Americans are in an impossible position with no backstop. Sometimes you have to divorce your political leanings from the reality of whats happening. Keep small business closed much longer, and Jan 6 might just be the start. Theres nothing more dangerous than a man with nothing else to lose. Except maybe millions of men with nothing left to lose. But hey, they might get 1400$ checks in a month, maybe....
